I made my first pot of coffee this morning. I made a full pot of coffee, which is 12 cups. But it works like all other coffee makers: it takes 8 cups of water (measured by a cooks standards) to make the 12 "cups". Each cup is actually 3/4 of a cup (6oz), not 8. The coffee was too strong for my liking and I like it strong. It was not the coffee maker; it was me. I ordered and returned another brand just before I bought this one and I had to use twice the coffee to get a decent cup. When I have figured out just how much to use, I will be all set. I love that this pot is primarily glass It is easy to clean. And there is no plastic taste. It will keep the coffee the coffee warm for up to 4 hours. It does not take up much counter space, which is a boon in my small kitchen; it is less wide an inch deeper than the pot it replaces; and it is much easier to clean. And no carafe. Although if there was a need for one, you could easily fell one if you had company you wanted to serve at the table.

I really like the one touch system that Hamilton Beach has. I have owned different models of this system with this one being the most expensive. We got rid of our last model because it leaked. Doing the research on how it worked we thought we would give it a try. It didn't even last 6 months before it started to leak (from where we are still confused). I woke up to half my brewed coffee all over my counter. At first we thought we were using too much coffee so we started making 12 cups instead of 14, but that didn't work. It still leaks, not every time bu,t as you would guess, at the most inconvenient times like when you need to get out the door. The heat is great with the plate and glass pot and it brews fast, 10 min, as long as it is on the normal mode not bold. You can't pour yourself a cup until it is done though so if you started it and are in a hurry you won't get a cup. It definitely looks cool but it sounds like a dying animal when you push to get your cup. If you are trying to let people sleep in well forget about it. All in all it is not worth the money.

Edit:After just over 2 months, and around 90 brews, I still like it. I have not had any issues with leaking. There has been no bad coffee taste because the unit is easy to throughly clean. This unit has a dedicated cleaning cycle that you can start whereas my old 48465 you had to start it with vinegar, manually turn it off, then manually turn it on again to finish the cycle. This unit does it automatically. For the coffee reservoir, I use Bottle Bright tablets, putting 3 in the tank while running the machine without coffee grounds in it. I run the coffee basket and the water tank in the dishwasher occasionally to clean them. The only downfall that I have discovered is the location of the brew strength and keep warm buttons (touch, not physical buttons). It is easy to push the coffee maker back under the upper counter and hit one of the buttons to either make a stronger coffee or turn off the timed heater.Original post:We replaced our Hamilton Beach One Press 48465 after 5 years. After having a coffee maker with a coffee tank that holds the brewed coffee hot for hours, we knew we wanted another one. The reason we didn't go back with the 48465 is that it is a hard machine to throughly clean. This unit is definitely more complex for a drip coffee maker than most others. That said, it is not a difficult machine to use. One big advantage over the 48465 is that with the number of parts with this machine, it is far easier to throughly clean – especially the glass coffee tank which cleans easier and better than the plastic tank on the 48465. The removable water tank is also far easier to clean. I also appreciate the 14 cup capacity over the standard 12 cup. It isn't a big difference, but it is noticeable. We make 1-2 pots a day, every day. With the first brew, the coffee was piping hot, and the unit kept it hot for a few hours as we finished it before the 4 hour heater turned it off. I'm not a huge fan of the mesh coffee filter because of the sediment that brews into the pot, but you can use standard paper filters as well.As far as noise that others had mentioned, it isn't obnoxious. Because the coffee tank is below the dispensing nozzle, the machine has to pressurize the coffee tank to despense it. It pressurizes it each time that you place a cup to get coffee.

No es muy intuitivo el sistema de uso, el manual viene solo en inglés, sin embargo una vez que lo entiendes se vuelve muy práctico.

Pump Stopped Working // Prior Model was AMAZINGI have used this coffee pot from end of May to early Aug. The pump stopped working today.Honestly, this coffee maker has been horrible since it arrived. It has leaked a few time. It's not easy to clean. It's kind of a pain. I was looking forward to setting this up for my coffee routine... The setup isn't easy but you can figure it out with the directions. I did this as a treat for myself and ended up getting frustrated instead. Bummer.I loved the prior model that didn't have a pump and didn't have a glass holding area. I used it for many many years. I actually donated it because I was moving and didn't want to pack it up.I spent a lot of money on this and am totally disappointed._______________________________________________________FIRST REVIEWI was excited to get this coffee maker because I had the past model. It almost completely different.Pros>> I do like the fact that the coffee is stored in glass.>> You can program to brew in the AM and it works.>> Looks nice.>> Doesn't drip.Cons>> I don't like that the coffee isn't warm & is kinda cold when put on the warmer. The other one was way better. I may return it because of this.... Main reason I loved this coffee maker. >> There is a pump the dispenses the coffee. The old was was gravity feed and didn't need a pump. >> Wondering how long this pump will actually last.>> Pump to get coffee into your cup is kinda loud. If you are trying to be quiet in the AM and get a cup of coffee, you can't.>> You need to read the instruction in order to use this & they are a little confusing.>> Doesn't come with a reusable filter as shown in the directions. Nor does it tell you which ones to buy in the instructions.>> Complicated to clean unlike the old model.>> The flavor from the past machine was a little bit better.Debating if I will keep it. I really wanted to love it. Will try it a few more times & see.
