This stomp has become an essential part of my set. I use it as long as my ankle holds out. I have to try not to use it on every song. I'm a solo/folk/singersong writer. To set this puppy up on your mixer I recommend turning the highs and mids all the way off, and boost the low to max. Then refine it from there, if you need to. You might need to give a touch of gain/trim depending on your mixer pre amps. Add just a touch of reverb to the channel. It sounds like a bass drum. It sounds better than a bass drum! Just remember when you start the beat make sure you keep it going. You'll notice people tapping their feet, you might even get dancers. That's been my experience. This is an excellent little product. It's sturdy. Solid. You're going to want to have it on a rug, because even with the rubber bottom it still will scoot a bit as you use it. As you can see from my photo, mine is getting used. If you need some footstompin' in your set this is the product to get.

I am a cajon player, and wanted to add some extra sounds to our guitar and cajon duo. I like this pedal, as it has some really useful sounds. It has a nice bass drum sound, but I seldom use that. The tambourine sound is very useful, and I use it often to add some brightness to the music. The high hat sound is good, but doesn’t always cut through the mix. The crash cymbal sound is great, and for the songs that need it, it adds so much! There is also a cowbell sound. It is a good sound, but not one I use.The peddle is velocity-sensitive: the harder you stomp the louder the sound. I like this, because I have some control over the peddle sound in the mix. There is a little bit of a learning curve to find the sweet spot for your foot, but I can consistently get a good sound now that I am comfortable with the peddle. The peddle is a good size for your foot, is cut at a good angle, and the exterior is a single piece of wood (no mechanical/moving parts for the wooden part of the peddle). It has a nice ribbed, rubber bottom that does a good job for me staying in place on a variety of stages. It is made from mahogany wood, and it really is a beautiful item. It’s nice to have a good looking instrument, even a pedal. The biggest downside to this peddle is that it should have more volume. I have to have the peddle set to about 8 on the peddle’s knob, and still have it very high on the mixing board with the gain almost all the way up. I think I should be able to have the volume about 5 or 6 on the peddle itself. Because I have the pedal up so high, I can’t make any volume knob adjustments on the instrument during a gig.Another downside to the peddle is there is a knob to select the sound, which means you have to select the sound before the song, and you are pretty much stuck with that sound for that song. I wish there was at least the ability to plug in some type of foot switch to select between sounds easier. The final thing I would change is the power supply. It is a very thin, flimsy cord and plug. You can easily replace the cord, but for the price of this pedal, it should come with a heavy duty, right-angled plug so it’s not sticking out where you could easily step on it and break it. Seriously, Meinl, this is a piece of stage equipment. At $230, it should come with a thick, heavy duty power cord. There is really no excuse for this! The pedal is advertised as having an empty slot for you to upload your own sound. The “documentation” that comes with the pedal is just a small, single sheet of paper. Finding the software on Meinl‘s website took way too much effort. The software is very basic, and was a hassle to get installed. However, I have yet to be able to get the software to recognize the pedal. I have tried it on both a Mac and Windows laptop with no success. I am not computer illiterate, and I am very disappointed that trying to use this feature has been so difficult and ultimately unsuccessful.Despite these complaints, I am using this pedal at gigs (on average twice a week) since I bought it, and I wouldn’t want to go back to not having it. If Meinl would address these issues I mentioned in an upgraded version, I would buy it. But if this one broke, I would explore other options before spending this much on the exact same thing again.
