I've got it

works great just as advertised. The app gives enough data to be useful but isn't required for operation.I could see where wiring might be of concern for some, it's a matter of having a circuit avaible that will handle it, we had an exisiting 60amp ciruit that is no longer used for welder that this took the place of. Our PHEV won't accept the max charing so we turned it down to 16 amps output via the dip-switches. It's a fantastic addition over the 120v charger we were using previously. It now charges in a matter of a few hours rather than over night. We only bought this rather than a small 20-30 amp charger due to being mfg'd in North America and having growth capacity if we bought a dedicated EV. Currently own a '25 Kia Sorento PHEV hybrid and yes it's overkill but will grow going forward, isn't overly complicated, overly connected, etc. Would have rather bought a USA made unit but from months of efforts and comparison this was the only unit that checked the boxes and was about $300 cheaper than it's nearest competitor that was built in North or Central America. Thank you Canada for producing a reasonably simple charger that doesn't collect a rediculous amount of data, require an app to connect/charge at a reasonable price.

I should say that I am an electrician so the installation was simple and straight forward. After a couple weeks of useFor our first EV chargerThis has been a great addition. It chargers our PHEV from empty to full in about 6 hrs.The app seems to work decent and provides the basics. The charger can be used with or without the app or wifi that apps just adds to the convenienceProgrammable Timer schedule which I believe most EV cars have on board anywaysAllows too track your voltage, current and power consumption complete with graphNotifies you when charge is completeThe goodIT IS MADE IN CANADAReasonably pricedAdjustable amp / current to accommodate various EV and their onboard chargers allows for future upgrade to a new EVThis must be set manually by a dip switch, which I like. Less likely to change or configure on the app by accidentEasy to mount / install on studSeems to be of solid construction cast aluminum bodyThe cord seems very robust and standard 25ft length with a separate holster which you can mount anywhere that suites youThe badThere is a little plastic vile for the LED light that snapped off while I was removing the cover. Now it does mention this in the instructions but it is so flimsy and fragile this is a design flaw at some point there is a cr2032 battery that will need replacing. I don’t think many of us will remember about the vialWhen it come time to replace Now that being saidOnce the unit was powered up there is no problem. Seeing the light on or flashing in the garage even with the lights onAlso the tool supplied was the wrong size and didn’t fit. Not a problem as I used a socket and adapter

I bought two of the hardwired Ultimate models for our EV's. App is good, has all the needed features. The units have an external WiFi antenna and stay connected with no issue. They haven't dropped once. Very easy to configure. The app starts and functions every single time, and is also easy to set up. These units also have a web interface where settings and configs can be made via a web browser, and stats can be viewed. When setting price per KWH, remember that the format is in dollars. So for example, 9.5c/kwh would be configured a 0.095 in the app, NOT 9.5. Solid well made units. Connectors are great and fit the EV's with no issue. The Ultimate comes with the heavy duty holster that goes on the wall where the J1772 connector will click into when not in use. The brackets to install on the wall are great and easy to mount. If installing outside, buy the Grizzl-E lockset to lock them up so thieves can't steal them.

I have an EV, not a plug-in hybrid. It came with a charging cable. I was thinking about just having a dedicated 240-volt outlet installed until I found out that I could only charge at a maximum of 40 amps (80% of a 50-amp circuit breaker max for an outlet) rather than my car’s maximum and fastest 48 amps. Plus, the electrician informed me about some outlet code requirements for GFCI, etc., so I decided on a charging station. I bought the Grizzl-E 48A Ultimate Level 2 EV Charger with J1772 connector for several reasons: 1) It charged the quickest at the maximum of 48 amps; 2) it’s made in Canada, not China; 3) it’s UL Certified; 4) it came with a heavy-duty 25 ft charging cable—long enough for my needs inside the garage; and 5) I liked the simple, but heavy-duty metal case—no bells and whistles. My car displays all the charging info I need and includes settable max charging limits and a scheduler/timer. The Grizzl-E does have a supporting phone app that I have installed. While it duplicates most of the things my car can do, it does allow me to enter the kwh cost of my electricity so I can track charging costs. A licensed electrician installed a 60-amp 240-volt breaker (80% of 60 amps equals 48 amps max) in my panel and hard-wired the charging station (cost around $500). WiFi setup of the charging station and connection to the app worked the first time and has been stable ever since installing two months ago. The charger works great, and it’s nice to fast charge my car to 90% in just a few hours. The only thing I don’t like is the included holder for the cable and J1772 charging handle. I think it’s sourced from a third party. Its plastic feels cheap and hinky compared to the charging station’s metal. Because of the angle at which it mounts to the wall, it’s hard to loop the cable around and insert the charging handle in the enclosure; plus, the charging handle doesn’t seem securely latched in place. Grizzl-E could do better with this.

Installed very easily. Solid unit. Everything looks robust and heavy duty. Long cable and main charge plug seems well built. Watched many reviews and this charger rates very high. Mounted inside but is weatherproof for outdoor install. Made in Canada. Haven't used it yet....Just did the install. We will see very soon how it charges..... will update soon. Cheers.****Update.... charged for the first time last night. Received 47.9a and charged up our new EV as expected quick.....Therefore I highly recommend this and keep the business in Canada. Thanks for making a great no nonsense charger! The app is intuitive and works as it should. Simple robust design that just works. Track your charging with cost. Set schedules and charge limits. and notifies you when it's done. What more could there be? It does everything a charger is supposed to do.To the reviewer below who says it doesn't have a nema plug..... it is not supposed to because nema plugs only handle up to 50amp breaker (40 amp max charge rate) For that you will need the lower amperage charger which can be pluged in to a nema plug. This unit is to be hardwired as it handles 48amp 240v. Just saying.
