The mechanics used to keep the spool in the reel isn’t smart at all. The spool will fall out if you make any movements too quickly (big problem when casting). I had to use some metal epoxy to hold the mechanism in place to keep the spool locked on to the reel. But it is a good priced reel and is worth the money if you’re willing to tinker with it a little to keep the spool and reel together.

I've been looking for a budget friendly, good looking, high quality fly reel and so far the Goture Peller meets and even exceeds that criteria.Here are my thoughts so far. Aesthetically the reel looks great, the finish is clean and consistent, there are no visible machine marks, it appears to be very well built. The reel fits together perfectly and is smooth as silk, the drag is smooth as well and adjusts nicely. The clicker is a little on the quiet side if you like to let people around you know when you have a fish on a run (no click on retrieval). I ordered the 7/8 and loaded it with 100 yards of backing and a WF 8 floating line. It is a little snug but it fits without any interference so long as I'm somewhat mindful when reeling all of the line in. If you need more than 100 yards of backing this could be on the small side for an 8 weight line.I'll get this reel out on the water as soon as I can and update my review hopefully with a short video. Oh and by the way I currently about 6 different different brands of fly reels ranging from some lesser known brands to a couple of Cabela's reels and two Ross reels with several extra spools.So in short, my first impressions are definitely two thumbs and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this reel.

I ordered this kit about a month ago to try to get back into fly fishing. I used to fly fish quite a bit - years ago - but I lost all my stuff in a move and wasn't ready to spend the money. I've been price shopping for awhile and decided to give this kit a try. Comes with everything you need to get started - rod, reel, backing, line, leader, tippet, flies, and case.The rod has a nice whip to it and seems to be appropriate for the 7-8 weight line - no defects or problems visible. The reel is polished and looks more expensive than it is. It has an adjustable drag that is smooth and easy to set. ***Note: My reel came set for a left hander and I had to switch the anti reverse bearing. I've worked on other reels so I already knew how to do it. If you read this and need help, post a comment and I'll explain how - it's not hard.The line is weight forward, floats well, and loads the rod enough to cast. There is 100 yards of backing but you only need to use about 10 so you have plenty of extra.The flies are somewhat generic but fine for beginners. You are going to ruin your first dozen flies learning how to cast anyway so no flies you start with are going to last. Once you spent some time casting, go to a local store and pick up some flies specific to the fish in your area.It packs up easily into the nylon case and has room for a small fly box.I took it to a small pond recently and had some luck with three small fish. I purchased the 7/8 weight because I want to fish for largemouth bass and redfish, but you get what you get. When the weather warms up I'll try it on my kayak and hopefully get some bigger ones.Overall, a great starter kit and I'm happy with my choice.

I received this rod for my husband. He is just starting his fly fishing hobby and we were able to get this. It was great. The only issue was that there was no written instructions for putting in the line but we were able to figure it out thanks to YouTube. Great product for the price.
