Just a heads up you only get "event" view for free with nest cameras, but for $8 that changes across all nest cameras. This camera is extremely easy to set up, Google Home is a wonderful app that hasn't caused any issues for us, the design is nice and build quality feels solid. Connection to the camera is the best we've experienced (many cameras use 2.4ghz for streaming), which is awful. This has run at 99.9% consistentcy and even with that missing percent it was due to the phone not connecting, not the camera itself shutting off. We returned two Chinese cameras and got this camera, which was significantly more expensive but worth the investment. Night vision is excellent and there are plenty of other features within the app. Oh, and the AI it uses is incredible, you can record in your home and have it only recognize a pet or individual person instead of it notifying you of everything it sees. Talking through it also works perfectly. Little to no delay on streaming. 5 stars.

Definitely an improvement from the 1st generation indoor camera series.Better image quality and sound. The only thing I don’t like is that you can only use it in the Google Home app and not the Nest app (which is advertised and I was aware of).

Google Nest Security Cam (Wired) - 2nd Generation - SnowI have a multi-cam system in my house which includes Blink cams, Nest cams and a few other camera systems like Tplink , wayz and no-namers. I cant say i used Ring or arlo -- but so far Nest is BY FAR the most reliable in terms of LIVE streaming. Ironically, its the LEAST reliable for wifi. It requires really really good wifi to make it work well. With a paid subscription to nestaware, once you have a decent WIFI setup in your house, you will really appreciate nest system. It just works really well compared to other camera solutions. You get what you pay for honestly. With other systems, they may be cheap but I've had issues with speed, streaming, and video quality.Sharing with family members is easy too. Cinche. Just add someone to your family and its done. I find this to be really important in my house. Other systems , sharing your camera is a bit clunky. When you already have Google family defined, this becomes super easy.Video quality is just HIGH and MAX. I find HIGH sufficient detail but if your wifi is really good, i recommend MAX. Audio is excellent too. Especially the fact that there is very little LAG so then you can actually have a decent conversation with mic and audio. If this is a function you need, then NEST is really the best solution i've come across. Other systems are extremely poor audio quality and/or SLOW -- especially Blink systems which is basically unusable for a two way conversation. The obvious issue with this particular model is that it is wired. So mounting options become a problem. Less flexible. But you already know what youre getting into here so you have to plan accordingly. Other full wireless setups have this advantage of not needing to worry about power -- however those battery-only solutions have horrible LIVE streaming.Live streaming is absolutely the best function for this. It also adds additional value with NEST AWARE subscription which is EXCELLENT for historical surveillance purposes. Actually i bought this specific camera in order to monitor my dog at home. It does a great job ensuring it is recording all the events and i can review them when the day is done. Google has perfected this. Others are simply not reliable. This has no PTZ function unfortunately. Google needs to get on this. I wish there were such a camera made by google.Heres a big twogripes. First gen NEST cams can use the NEST APP. NEST APP is far superior to GoogleHome app. The second gen nest cams and everything thereafter , REQUIRE Google HOME app to control the camera. It will NOT work with NEST app. Why is NEst app superior to Google HOME app? two MAJOR things: 1. website based access to cameras. NEST gen1 cameras has access to show all your GEN 1 nestcam via browser. any GEN2+ cameras by google ONLY let you access cameras via the Home app only, and not website so you can only use your phone app . This is a huge miss. 2. Widgets. NEST app lets you create widgets on your phone (android) for direct acces to each camera right from your home screen. Google Home app does NOt support any widgets so to access cameras, you have to access your home app first, then scroll thru your huge list of IOT devices and find your cameras and then finally click on the camrea to view it. This is a HUGE HUGE miss again. GOOGLE needs to smarten up and fix this !!!!So is this the cheapest solution? Of course , not. It's pricey but you really get what you pay for here. This is the best live-view camera system out there in my experience and if this is what you need, then i recommend it. Just make sure your wifi setup is good.UPDATE 2023/05:Google just opened it up so that both old gen and newer gen NEST cameras can be viewed from a computer web browser. so you can have ALL your cams "tiled" in a home.google.com website. So this really rocks. Before i mentioned only OLD nest cams can do this but now all generation nest cameras can do this with the new website. This includes doorbell hello cams. If i could upgrade to half stars, i would but i cant. Its still not perfect --- i think nestcam wifi is a bit weak and you DO need good wifi coverage inside/outside the house (especially outdoors)
