Bought this as a spare, like my original bm-1 amp, speaker, this one the usb cable was pirated out of the box, they left the plastic bag, so used my Roland cable to charge, would not pair with phone, volume was not as strong, so have to return it.

I love my BTM-1. I bought it after a huge price drop. I acknowledge that the original $199 is steep. But! This is actually an amazing Bluetooth speaker. It is much better than most such speakers. So the original price is not so far fetched. I love listening to music through this. As a keyboardist I also wanted to use this as a portable amplifier. And it does a beautiful job of this too. But it’s important that you plug your instrument in the AUX port. Usually the guitar amplifier input works fine for keyboards but on this the dynamics of the keyboard sound create unpleasant sounds when connected to the amp input (unwanted distortion). Connected to the AUX port however and this sounds sweet with a piano or keyboard sound. I’ve used it with the Yamaha PSS-A50 for example and it sounds great!I’ve also seen complaints about the battery life. I don’t use mine a ton. But it’s held its charge for weeks when used a few days apart. I think it’s a great device and has gotten a bad wrap primarily because of the original high price. It should have always been priced lower. Hope this is helpful.

I would not recommend this especially with it’s price tag. Battery life is to short and the sound quality is not would you expect for a Roland

I had high hopes for this as it is a pretty unique product that can act as a bluetooth speaker as well as a small practice amp, but honestly it doesn't do either of those things very well. As a bluetooth speaker it sounds decent enough but perhaps a little too heavy on bass. The main problem here is that it doesn't get very loud. For its size I was expecting a bit more kick but my UE Wonderboom is actually louder. In a small 12x12 room it's not that hard to talk over it and have a conversation with someone. For it's size and price, I was expecting a little more.As a practice amp the volume level issue is even more prominent because there isn't a lot of headroom on this. Perhaps it would work better with a single coil guitar but because I had to boost the gain up high to hear it, my PRS kept getting into grunge overdrive territory. I could never get it to be loud and clean. There's a tone knob on it but I'm not sure you would want to do anything with it other then just leave it at 12 o'clock. Turning it to the left makes the bass very boomy and overwhelming and turning it to the right makes the highs very harsh and tinny. You can get decent tones out of it but it won't be too far off from one of the mini amps you see for around $100 like the NUX Mighty. Considering the company Roland is behind it I was hoping for a bit more than what the other mini amps offer. So if you are looking for a bluetooth speaker at this price point, you would be better off with a JBL Charge or a Bose Soundlink. Or if you can save yourself some money and get a Wonderboom. If you are wanting a practice amp, you would be better off spending a little more and getting a Fender GT.So who is this for? Well I would say if you are wanting something to sit on your desk and always be available for a quick 5 min jam session, this product works for that. But if you are looking for something to be a serious home practice solution, or a really good bluetooth speaker you may want to look elsewhere.

Does the job very well, if the job is to play background tracks via aux/BT to your guitar. As a standalone speaker it certainly lacks the bass punch typical of the prevailing selection on the market but you don't need the boom-boom overpowering your guitar sounds. As a guitar amp it works very well, reproducing sounds as faithfully as my Roland Cube 30 only on a smaller scale. The knobs don't allow for much variation in sounds but what's there works well enough. There's certainly the size to consider, as it's almost twice the size of a Bose Soundlink Mini. It's still portable though.Between getting a Vox micro amp + small speaker and getting this, it will depend on the space in my bag on the day. I have both and would say neither of them's a bad buy.
