Good bench power supply. I like that it has an output enable button on the front.

There are endless cheap power supplies on Amazon, but this is the only one I’ve found that actually works the right way. Most of the cheap switchers have a knob to set voltage and a knob to set current limit, but no markings to be able to see what they are set to. This means that flipping on the power supply will result in it outputting whatever the last voltage was set to. If you don’t remember, that might result in your device blowing up! Also, the current limit is set by shorting the leads, which means that they must be disconnected from the load to configure it.This power supply shows the set voltage and current - before the power is enabled. When the power supply is turned on, the set voltage and current is displayed, but the output is not enabled. This means that the risk of destroying whatever it’s connected to is minimized, because there is a visual confirmation of the values (just like my 60-year-old Q-Nobatron, which has voltage and current set pots - with scales).Once you are sure that the settings are correct, you simply push the output button, and watch the lights. The power supply has some bells and whistles (like settings memory), but I’ve never really seen them as being very useful.I like this power supply so much that I bought two of them.

I understand from other reviews that the output on off doesn't really turn it off completely (looks like a capacitor is across the output after the on-off or something, couple 20-40mV with no load). In practice though it works very well and it's been really nice having a simple adjustable bench power supply in the typical form factor. Has been reliable so far and seems relatively accurate when measured with my HP 34401A

Device looked used due to cosmetic imperfections (white knobs had black marks) but close inspection indicates it’s just poor workmanship. Power up was fine. Initial voltage precision is always PLUS 0.010v. Doesn’t matter the voltage and that is an open test. I’ll add light and heavy loads later to validate. Using a 12v integrated current limiting diode, tested both C.V. And C.C and under 20ma it behaves properly and precisely. I did not verify the current surge notes by others upon “output” button activation. I’m sure it’s there. The fact I used a current limiting diode for test defeats all ability to detect a surge. Will be using exclusively for filament heater on vacuum tubes. It is far more precise than I really need.We will see how it behaves with a 4A load in a few days.

As a self-proclaimed tinkerer of microcontrollers, I've had my fair share of simple projects. However, as my skills have grown and I've ventured into more complex territory involving multiple voltages, it became evident that I needed a reliable power supply. Enter the Hyelec Variable 50V 6ADC Power Supply, my knight in shining armor, or should I say, my volt in shining current? Allow me to share my experience with this versatile power supply, all while keeping it light and humorous.Being a first-time bench power supply owner, I approached this purchase with a mix of excitement and trepidation. But after three months of use, I can confidently say that I'm beyond happy with my choice. This power supply has proven itself as a worthy companion to my burgeoning tinkering adventures. One standout feature of the Hyelec power supply is its programmable settings. Gone are the days of tediously adjusting voltage and amperage every time I switch between different projects. With the ability to preset the desired voltage and amps, I can now effortlessly switch between power requirements at the push of a button. It's like having a personal voltage butler at my service, catering to my every project's needs.Furthermore, the power supply's built-in overvoltage protection and current limiter features are a true godsend. They act as my project's guardians, ensuring that I never accidentally zap my delicate components with excessive voltage or current. It's like having a power supply that doubles as a superhero, keeping my creations safe from the perils of electricity.Speaking of safety, the quality of the Hyelec power supply is top-notch. It exudes a sense of robustness and durability, assuring me that I made a wise investment. The craftsmanship and attention to detail are apparent, and I feel like I got a great deal considering the impressive features and overall quality. In conclusion, the Hyelec Variable 50V 6ADC Power Supply is a formidable ally for any tinkerer seeking a reliable and versatile solution. Its programmable settings make switching between voltage and current requirements a breeze, while the overvoltage protection and current limiter features offer peace of mind. With its exceptional quality and value for money, this power supply has truly become an indispensable tool in my tinkering arsenal. So, fellow tinkerers, fear not! Embrace the power (supply) and let your creative projects flourish with the Hyelec by your side.
