I've been using it for many years, cleaning the filter while maintaining it, but it's starting to get worn out, so I bought a new filter. It seems like the tank is cleaner and less likely to get dirty. Cleaning it is quite a hassle, so I think it's better to replace it with a new one regularly.

This humidifier/air cleaner does the best job of humidifying and cleaning than any other in the house. Using the correct filter is important. I would not want to give up this machine.

Bought this to replace an old tired one that used to be in a smoking home (from former owner), once replaced, all the weird hint of tobacco was gone.From time to time, it will develop a wet mop smell, but a quick rinse and wash in shower will fix that quick. I suspect the smell is due to this filter catching particles that made through the first two filters. Works best when wet of course, just like a wet towel wiping down stuff. When it catches enough of them, time to wash and get it smelling fresh again.
