This is a fairly decent product for the cost. It is a little noisy and not as smooth as higher end power feeds. It WILL NOT fit directly onto a Well-Index milling machine. And I knew this before buying it. With some machining and skill you can make your own bushing or adaptor to your Z axis shaft. I did not keep up with the specs for the one I made for mine. But if you have a lathe, it can be done.

It seems ok, but if you don’t have a machine shop at your disposal like I did then you’ll have trouble. I had to cut mounting screw length, broach out the drive gear key way to 1/8”; I think it was metric, wouldn’t even start to slip on my Bridgeport 5/8” drive end. Then I had to make a bushing for the needle bearing race 20mm not even close to 5/8”. Then make a 5/16” spacer to get it within range to use the shims. It took two hours instead of 15 minutes like it should have.

The power feed itself seems to be of decent quality. I have only had it on my machine for about a week, so time will tell. HOWEVER:Be prepared for a lengthy installation process if you have a Bridgeport. Can't speak for other import mills. The brass gear included with the unit is not machined correctly for a Bridgeport 1/8" key. Not a big deal if you've got a 1/8" keyway broach and a 5/8" bushing for it. Some other reviewers have mentioned filing the keyway to size, but that would likely give you a sloppy fit and lead to premature wear. Also, the thread on the brass gear is not the 20TPI required to use your nice metal nut for the dial. The kit includes a horrible plastic nut that fits, but it is the cheapest possible garbage. I ended up chucking the gear in my lathe and recutting the thread to 20TPI. It makes for a slightly loose fit with the metal Bridgeport nut, but it's far better than using the included plastic trash.I was converting my mill from an old style Bridgeport gearbox power feed, which created additional complications. I can't speak for other models for Bridgeport, but I had to shorten my lead screw, cut a new 1/8" keyway and also create a shouldered bushing to bring the 5/8" shaft up to the inside diameter for the internal bearing race included with this unit.None of these processes are a problem if you've got a machine shop at your disposal. You may need a second milling machine to modify the lead screw on the one you're installing the power feed on.I have installed other cheap Chinese power feeds on my other mills and it's usually the same problems.BOTTOME LINE:If you're willing to modify these units, you can save hundreds of dollars. But this unit should NOT be marketed as compatible with Bridgeport brand machines.
