Not too vibrant on some paper. After using it , realised that layering is done properly.

Bought three sets of 12, at $13.50 I couldn't resist. One for myself and two to donate at Christmas with drawing supplies. A great idea by Faber-Castell to create a pencil suitable for, as they say, students and hobbyist. A STEP above Prismacolor, not as soft or breakable, less messy and less expensive from the number one manufacturer of colour pencils on the planet. Also to limit the collection to 48 pencils is a practical idea if not a stroke of genius, the less pencils you have the more you are forced to learn and create colours you don't have. It let's you get to know your pencils and to know the art of colour pencils. Plus if you find it is not for you a fortune hasn't been spent on pencils of a lesser quality. The names may not be on the pencil but they are on the Faber-Castell colour chart, they match the polychromous. I personally don't think anybody needs more than a 72 set of colour pencils regardless of the level one has achieved and 48 is a good start. If one becomes serious about using them to colour and/or to draw one can continue to use them or move on up to Faber-Castell Polychromous. If you can't afford the full set of 48 start off with a 12, 24, 36 set of Goldfaber, as you can afford them this would bring you a name brand pencil. I have purchased four full sets to donate with colouring supplies at Christmas.
