These are the best pencil erasers I have come across so far.

Back in the late 80’s, while working as a bench technician, we used these to clean circuit board contacts, relay contacts, etc.. They’re just hard enough to be abrasive, but soft enough to not cause any damage, or remove any plating. They also don’t leave any residue, like the ‘pink’ or ‘gum-rubber’ erasers do. (Just be sure to brush or blow away any remaining particles.)Several years ago, my last two remaining erasers were almost used up. I looked online for replacements, only to find that they aren’t made anymore. Because of this, prices became insane. People were asking $18 to $20 for old, dried up, half-used erasers. I gave up on finding anymore and sparingly used the ones I had left. I even bought a few burnishing brushes, but they don’t work as well, and they also produce tiny glass fiber fragments.Imagine my surprise, when I found out that these were being made again! It probably isn’t healthy, to be this excited about typewriter erasers, but I ended up buying 12, which should last me forever. They aren’t cheap, but they are indispensable. If you work on electronic equipment, you should own a few of these. If you like them, you might want to stock up. This may be a limited run, as there isn’t much of a demand for typewriter erasers, anymore.

Please remind me of the old-fashioned typewriter erasers. It has a bit of grit to it so that it can take off ink smudges and works well with colored pencils. I like that I can sharpen them to the point size I need. However you will not want to get it to Sharp because it just breaks off. I do buy them in bulk so that I have them available. Once you try them you'll love them.

I use these eraser pencils to clean silver contacts on protective relays. A sharpened point will get into very tight places. They remove the oxides but not the silver and leave very little mess. I finish the cleaning with a contact burnisher tool. These are well worth the price and are highly recommended.
