I chose it as an alternative to the tape gun when taping smaller items. Standard shipping tape sized tape fit in easily. Sturdy, heavily built and rugged. Haven't tested the suction cups but I didn't need them either. They help keep it level though.I am not sure what those yellow things on the bottom, but they pop out easily. I may discard if I can find a use for them. They are not essential to the operation of the device.Design is simple, which is ideal. Weight is heavy which is also ideal. It cuts tape well and is a good value. As my store expands I anticipate that this will help me both save on tape costs by limiting waste and improve packing speed ensuring packages get out more quickly.Sure, tape is cheap and a tape gun works for most applications - still I felt like I was wasting tape by drawing it in excess with the tape gun and this method of tape dispensing allows more precision and less waste. Part of profitability is limiting expenses and limited tape expenses (tape waste ) is a small but real element. Which I also feel is a win for the environment. Further, this doesn't appear to be very easily destroyed so I don't have to worry about it ever making it to a landfill.Hopefully this helps shippers and resellers on the fence about the item. Highly recommend you purchase this immediately as you set up a shipping station as the sooner you start using it the sooner you start limiting your expenses.The Math: In a 40 yard roll of tape there are approximately 1,440 inches of tape. If you average 12 inches of tape per package(often more, often less), that's 120 packages per roll. If you can shrink that average by eliminating an inch of waste per package, you can tape 131(130.9) packages per roll and save the cost of a 6 pack every 780 packages(so save like $30). It's also likely that you waste more than an inch per package, especially on larger packages. If it's 2 inches cut that in half. If it's 4 inches then you save 30$ ish every 195 packages.Plus it's easier to use than a tape gun. Either way, well worth the purchase.

This. Is an excellent product. However I had to use a hammer to get a large roll of tape on to the dispenser.

I am in love with this. In complaining, a thing I do occasionally, a friend mentioned an insanely overpriced device he had in a warehouse job, years ago. Cut forward to a few years after that conversation, many years since his experience, and I found myself in dire need of something to make dispensing packing tape onto envelopes, bubble mailers, wee pads that won't stay on the darn potty, and so on, a bit easier, a bit safer, a bit less maddening. I came to Amazon, my favorite store, which you already know if you read my reviews, and quickly came upon that device, which was still extremely overpriced. After a day of distraction, when i discovered the new DVDs of Endeavour, Father Brown and Doctor Blake Mysteries had been released in the UK, I came back to it and found this little beauty in the "Customers Also Viewed" section of the overpriced nightmare. This tape dispenser is PERFECT.Plainly put, this is a metal unit, solid and strong and built to last. It has enough pressure, inward, from each side, to hold the tape roll in place as you use it, but, not so much as to make it impossible to switch the rolls out. The tape roll cassette can be used as two, with two one inch rolls, or as one, with one two inch roll of tape, so long as they have a three inch center diameter. The tape dispenser has a bridge, to guide the tape as you pull it and keep it from falling back down onto itself. It has a nice sharp cutting edge, easy for tearing the tape off, but, unlike most units, they remembered to actually put a safety shield for sad of clumsy fools like me, those of us who cut ourselves, on everything, all the time, and really do need a nice plastic cover to flip up, over the blade, when the blade is not in use. And, somehow, on top of that, they actually built it with suction cups that hold it to the table where it lives. Ours is on a plastic sheet on a table, not a waxed or polyurethane coated wood surface. I recommend using a plastic cutting board for it if you have to use a nice wood table, but, most surfaces where you would find one of these will be just fine, like an MDF or particle board dresser with veneer or a plastic or metal work table or cabinet. The suction cups could be removed if you didn't want them, but, once you see how this works and how incredibly well it works with the suction engaged, very few of you will want to remove such a wonderful feature.I wish you luck in finding what you need and, if you need a tape dispenser, this company, Excell, makes an amazing product, in a variety of sizes, for different taping applications, most of which cost around twenty to thirty dollars, including tax. I just love this company and I adore the two inch table/desk top tape dispenser. How often does a little thing like this actually make life easier, rather than just cluttering up the garage? This saves me time and energy and little cuts on my hands. I just love it.
