Nice beads, different colors and sizes! Used to tie weighted flies and streamers.

I will start off by saying I am a novice fly tyer. This is my first time using beads on my flies. I've used them for a wooly bugger and an emerger. The beads are colored as expected and the weight feels right. I had to pinch down the barbs to get them onto a #8 and a #14 hook, but I'm assuming that is to be expected. I typically fish barbless anyway, so I would be doing that as a matter of course.I will note that the second bead had a bit of tungsten protruding off of the slot that needed cleaned up, so it wasn't perfectly machined. After looking at the others, it looks like I just got unlucky and found the one bead of the batch that had a problem. The others all look fine.

These are nice little beads but the slot on one side is big enough to slide over the eye of the hook if you're not careful (arrow in first photo). Sorry for the grainy photos - small bead!

The tungsten beads offered in this packet come in different colors to be used on tying flies as you want. The five different colors of beads were in separate bags divided up and ready to use. While 100 is a lot of beads, I did get started on several flies and found that the beads do offer slightly more weight so they will straddle the top of the water as expected, but the weight seems to allow it to drop in the water an inch or two so it can offer more pull and ultimately movement. The beads are very small, but looking them over with the magnifying glass, I noticed they are universal in size, round without harsh edges and the eye is exactly in the middle as expected. Putting the bead on the hook is pretty easy as you thread it through the hook as expected. If you are looking for a little more weight for your flies, the opportunity to use tungsten might be a choice to consider. I believe it makes the flies look more believable when the line is being reeled in.
