This is an all-inclusive kit with two different rubber clamp inserts for round or square-shaped rods. Essentially, this took a few minutes to assemble, however its sturdiness is dependent upon the rod you install the unit on. The system allows to be angled in any direction, however it will be permanently placed so until the unit is unscrewed and unclamped again. There is a screw at the base of the unit to prevent the pole to fall through, however, I feel additional security for the pole is needed at the top - in case of bumps on the road. Overall, the unit works, however you need to heed the terrain. Otherwise, it works fine!

I’ve seen people with surfboard holders on the side of their bike so I thought there had to be something out there that would hold your fishing rod. This product works just great unfortunately I have a weird shaped frame on my primary bike and it wouldn’t fit on that, but on my older bicycle with round tubes it fit perfectly, elastic strap holds the fishing rod in place pretty secure so you don’t have to worry about it bouncing out while you’re riding. Great product.

For all the pieces this kit comes with, it needs instructions the most, and it doesn't have them. With some trial and error, and having to reference the original listing (one should never have to do this), I was able to make the rod holder work on my bike. It's not mounted as-shown in the product images, but it's the best place for my set up.The rod holder comes with a cross bar to install across the bottom, which makes the holder useless for longer-handled rods - just don't use it. I like that it comes with a bungee to hold the rod secure, however, the hole to install the bungee is so large, I envision it falling out the first time I take the rod somewhere. There are 3 mounting tabs on the holder body, and I had to use the end one to keep the rod butt out of my pedaling motion. This works, but makes the whole set up shakier than I'd like.The kit comes with a screwdriver, but don't use it. The head is simply to small for the pattern of the bolts, and a larger Philips drive will allow you to properly tighten the assembly,. Funny enough - the bottom rail that I didn't use is an Allen head, but no Allen wrench is included in the kit.

I’ve wanted one of these for a long time and was excited to mount it to my bike as most would, just like shown online. The problem I soon discovered, and in particular for bikes like mine with gears and a rear derailluer, is you can only mount this on the side opposite the derailuer if choosing a low frame location.Then the next problem is the back of my heel would hit the fishing pole mount unless you pedal down the road with foot awkwardly positioned on that side. Take a look at online seller photo and imagine the pedal position had it been to the back (3 o’clock) instead, and where your foot would be.The plastic is a little flimsy compared to most fishing rod holders I’ve used in my life, but strong enough for its intended job. Included are a couple rubber frame insert adapters for the base mount, the screws needed to attach, and a cheap phillips head screwdriver that is mostly worthless. No instructions were included, but if you watch the online video clip it will be your guide. The long pin included goes through a hole near the bottom of the rod holder to keep your rod from falling through. Opposite it’s flat head end it has a female threaded hole and is secured with the shortest included screw. However, both the screw and opposite end of the pin require a metric allen wrench to tighten (think it’s 2.5mm) but that wasn’t included, just the aforementioned cheap phillips head screwdriver. The other 3 included screws needed are phillips head.With the mount attached to the bike frame, you can pick from 3 positions on the back side of the rod holder (low, middle, high) to affix it to the frame mount. Where the back of the rod holder and bike frame mount meet, there are serrated teeth that interlock so the holder won’t rotate once the single screw is tightened that holds it to the mount.My size 10 feet on the pedals proved to be too big for this to work as shown on any of our mountain or cruiser bike frames. I’m now looking for a mount that extends the rod holder position to somewhere back behind the rear axle. For now, I had to resort to mounting this nearly under my bike seat.
