I purchased this GPS speedometer for my new Bass Tracker. Works as I was expecting. Easy to install and setup. Looks great in my boat’s dashboard.

Very impressed with this unit. Replaced the factory unit on our boat with this one. Fit perfectly and gives a great, accurate reading.

I purchased this for an old motorcycle that was originally equipped with a Smith's "Chronometric" type. These older speedometers are effectively unobtainable (and never worked that reliably even back in the day) so I've been looking around for a replacement that was the right size and general appearance. I've been unsuccessful up to now -- cable driven units rarely have a cable and gear ratio that fits, electric ones require magnets on the wheel, there really wasn't anything out there. Then this turned up. Its the right size and the right shape for the machine and -- to my surprise -- it works reliably with a stable readout and no problems with lost GPS signal. I've only given it four stars because you have to improvise a mount (although an ABS pipe cap from the local hardware store does the job well its not perfect) and its geared to a negative earth system, leaving potential problems with shorting, but nothing that can't be overcome by someone who owns an old machine. The meter comes with an external antenna that's attached by a lot of thin coaxial cable, abut 12 feet (4 meters), so its easy to route the cable away from ignition systems and other potential interference sources. (I placed my antenna on the tail lamp mount where it always has a clear view of the sky).(PS -- One minor improvement would be to the LCD display. This shows things like trip and odometer but this being a GPS unit it should be able to optionally display latitude and longtitude.)

The other cheaply built one I bought failed within a few miles. Amazon service was fantastic. I chose this Eling because I liked the traditional look and simple, direct hookup. Wired it hot into my headlight switch on my 1951 IHC bus and hooked the backlight into the parklight lug on the switch. Ground to a screw under the dash. The pickup lead is like a mini coax cable that firmly threads to the speedo unit. Very simple for me to install as I just used a dryer vent sized hose clamp to secure it to my steering column. I like the way it's built. There are 2 buttons on the back for setting the color of light and the miles function. I have it set to trip and odometer. The trip gives your distance in miles and 10ths and odo rounded miles. I completely cut power to it by switching off my master cutoff switch and it still kept the trip and miles stored and they appeared when power was restored. Good! To reset the trip meter you press the button on the BACK of the speedo. Keep that in mind. This is well made and works well. Odo and speed are accurate. You could use this ruggedly built unit on just about anything. So far I've only gone exactly 9.3 miles as a test but I could not be more satisfied. This is the one you want for old hot rods or bikes or whatever. It seems tough and well sealed against moisture as well. I'm going to get another one soon for my Harley 72 XLCH.
