Great modern option for an exterior light. These dim without flicker or any issue. The light shines up and down from the fixture.

The EDISHINE LED outdoor up/down wall lanterns are a Mediterranean-style lighting matched pair of upscale metallic finish luminaries suitable for indoor or outdoor use. The colour patina in the product description illustrations is light bronze, however the fixtures received by this reviewer were darker and more “brownze than bronze”, although still very attractive and casually elegant.Let’s look at the tech specs first. These lights have the 3 colour range choices (3000 K, 4000 K, and 5000 K) that are expected of upscale lighting fixtures today. They also have an IP 65 waterproof rating for outside use. IP 65 designation stipulates that the device must be totally dust and particle intrusion proof, and that it can withstand water projected from a nozzle such as a garden hose.This can provide peace of mind that the fixtures can not only absorb typical rain and snow events, but can also protect against water intrusion if the fixtures were periodically cleaned with a water hose.The actual metal composition of this fixture is not included in the product description, however the shell is purported to be corrosion resistant and rustproof. Given that each fixture weighs less than 2 pounds and is claimed to be waterproof, this reviewer would surmise that the shell is made of aluminum.There are no light bulbs to replace in this unit. The preinstalled 12 W luminaire is rated at 12 Watts of power consumption and a 40,000 hour lifespan, roughly the equivalent of 25 years of average use. The lumen output is provided as approximately 1000 lm, the approximate equivalent of 40 Watts of old-school tungsten or 15 Watts of CFB bulbs.The fixtures are dimmable between 10 and 100% (dimmer not included). The lights have a colour rendering index (CRI) of 90+, deemed as excellent for producing light that accurately reproduces surroundings.An earlier version of this review incorrectly identified a design feature that could limit proper water drainage from inside the fixture. Although not visible in the product description illustrations or descriptive text, there is a distinct opening for allowing water to escape buildup inside the upper part of the fixture where the luminaire is located..Another illustration in the product description highlights the technique for connecting this fixture to an existing four-inch 110 V household power box. There is no mention of applying silicone or other waterproofing to seal out potential water seepage at this location, and also possibly water running down the wall under the fixture and dripping into the connection.Although there is no mention in the product description of any UL, CSA, or similar product safety testing certificate for this fixture, thankfully there is a UL certification listed on the back of the fixture and also on the wiring. UL certification is the equivalent of Canadian CSA standards. Canadian licensed electrician contractors will often refuse to install any fixtures that do not have appropriate safety certifications, therefore this can be quite important.Communicating important consumer decision-making information is important to many potential purchasers. Hopefully future revisions of the product description text and illustrations can build on the existing text and illustration gaps identified. This might also include PDF documentation provisions for the test lab contractor and results for both the IP 65 and UL certifications.Conclusion: The EDISHINE LED outdoor up/down wall lanterns are a lovely Mediterranean-style lighting matched pair of upscale metallic finish luminaries suitable for indoor or outdoor use. Really good looking modern design. It looks really good inside our covered porch and when installing it, I felt that the build quality of the lights was really good and really liked the finish on thee lights: they clearly look nicer than most other fixtures when you're up close to them as in the case of our enclosed porch.

[I have update my review after finding out how to sync color temperature....We really do like these lights and they look great. These lights have a "feature" which allows you to change the color temperature by switching them on/off within ten seconds.If you are installing two lights on the same circuit-- for example one on each side of a door-- it is very easy to get them out of sync.To sync the color temperature, turn the lights on/off three times (at least) and that should sync the color temperature. Not that this is not documented in the instructions. You read it here first.It is a bit too easy to change the color temperature accidentally and I prefer to hard set the color temperature via a switch.
