Most of the time, when you're using a stapler, you use it to put a staple at the edge of the paper - no problem.But occasionally you want to put the staple in the middle of the paper, like if you are assembling a magazine, and for that job, a normal stapler won't do, as it can't reach further than a few inches past the edge of the paper. That's what this special purpose stapler is for!The stapler itself is nothing special - it's metal-framed plastic, not super cheap nor super good quality. What's special is the metal arm it is mounted on, allowing you to place staples a full 12 inches in from the edge of the paper. The metal arm is labeled in both English and metric, and there's a sliding stopper so you can ensure all your staples are exactly the correct distance from the edge.It takes standard staples, but, none are included - you'll have to provide your own.While you would reasonably expect a special-purpose stapler to cost more than a normal one, I still do think the price here is higher than it ought to be, particularly considering that the quality isn't that great and no staples are included. But for occasional use, this will do fine, and I'm glad I have one available to me. It's one of those tools you don't use every day, but when you need it, nothing else will do.

The pin that held stapler straight snapped on first use. Awful product.
