I bought this guitar when I knew I would have shoulder surgery. The weight and body are the perfect size to fit between my sling and stomach. But more so the neck rivals any expensive guitar I’ve ever played. Good job Donner.

Let's start with the fact that this is a travel guitar, back up guitar and jam session guitar; and not a pro-level instrument in terms of tone, craftsmanship and playability. It is nicely set up and feels good; but it still feels like a budget guitar. That aside, it is a remarkable product. I had originally considered the non-pro version of this instrument at half the price and browsed just long enough to stumble onto this 2025 version of the Hush X Pro guitar. While Donner makes decent quality music gear for the hobbyist or semi-pro musician, I don't know of another guitar with this feature set.To begin, it is certainly compact, with aluminum arms that attach to the top and bottom edge via an ingenious locking cam mechanism. The attachment points are spring-loaded making asssembly and disassembly quick and secure. And the arms really do make it more natural to hold. The pickups are decent - nothing spectacular; but I do like that they moved the middle pickup toward the neck for more tonal variation. The truss rod is also easier to manipulate with the included adjustment rod that slips into spoke-holes in the end, saving the trouble of angling an allen wrench into the end. The guitar can function as a normal electric without powering up the FX circuit at all; with a standard 3-way pickup selector switch, coencentric volume and tone knobs. There is a standard output jack, 1/8" headphone jack and USB-C charging and data port. On the upper bout, there is a small display screen, parameter knob and data entry knob; as well as pushbutton switches for the onboard tuner/tap-tempo (for delay) and to activate the Bluetooth receiver (for streaming in backing tracks etc., which get mixed with the guitar at the headphone jack).I won't go into all of the details, but this guitar not only offers a tuner, but a multi effects circuit that also includes amp modeling, electric and acoustic guitar modeling; all of which can be customized and saved to any of the 6 banks of 3 presets (18 in all) accessible via the preset knob on the face of the guitar. The effects can do a lot to enhance the tone of the instrument to your liking. Presets can be backed up via the desktop software, which also allows you to load a bunch of custom (cab) IR's.The included nice case stores everything and includes a cable, USB-C cable, decent IEM headphones, a strap. picks, extra allen screws for the headstock and all needed tools. A couple of points to note: (1) I suggest retaining the foam that protects the preset knob; as when the case is closed, it can accidentally push down on the knob, powering up the FX circuit and draining the rechargeable battery and (2) the display parameters on the screen are very tiny; so you may need reading glasses or a magnifier to read the parameters. That said, Donner has really nailed the portability factor for informal performances and practice, eliminating the need to bring effects pedals, a tuner, and dealing with a backing track playback setup. While not the cheapest travel guitar, this definitely is a better "mousetrap" than anything I've seen.

Having both the Hush I Pro and X Pro, I can tell ya some of the differences.1. Strings, the X Pro has nickel wound and I Pro has bronze.2. You don't need to turn on the X Pro, just plug and play like a regular guitar. The I Pro needs to be on.3. Obviously the pickups4. String tension adjusting can be done by hand on the X Pro, whereas it's doable on the I Pro, but you're best off using the included allen key (that is conveniently hidden in the guitar)5. Location of 1/4" jack, 1/8" jack and USB-C is on the bottom of the X Pro6. Color options, both come in white. The X Pro has a black option, the I Pro has a natural wood option7. Two more frets on the X Pro8. Probably a a few differences in the software, but I haven't tinkered too much there yetI haven't gotten too far into the configuration and built in options yet, but will update this post with my findings. So far, it's very playable (good action and such). At the advice of my local luthier, I had to make a slight adjustment on my I Pro to the truss rod to get rid of a buzz on a couple frets, but that was an easy fix. My X Pro is solid, no fret buzz anywhere.Though there are many little amps, I find the Postive Grid Spark Go fits the bottom pocket perfectly and still allows for the case to close. In summary, this is a great niche guitar as well as a daily player. Build quality is good and you can't beat the price point for the options. If you're in the market for a travel guitar, look no further.

The guitar plays fine and was set up well out of the box. The frets felt a little gritty but I've found that to be the case with many guitars at or below this price. When I plugged it into my amp without the built in DSP it sounded just fine. However when I tried the built in FX directly through my headphones I found the other reviewer's complaints to be true. The clean sounds are good but anything with gain had a harsh hissing sound behind it. And to try to hide some of that noise all of the presets have the noise gate cranked way too high. Turning the gate down allows notes to ring out but sounds terrible. I'm not sure if this was a grounding issue or what but I was unable to get any distortion sounds without the noise.I would recommend anyone looking at this guitar to go with the cheaper and lighter Hush X and get a headphone amp like the Fender Mustang Micro or Boss Katana:Go instead.
