We had this collar on our dog for a year now and we love it. We have a miniature golden doodle. About 23 lbs full grown. We have used this on him since he was 5 months all. It works amazing!!!!! Instead of buying electric fence we decided to use the collar to teach our dog where to go and where not. It worked amazing. It has a level from 0 to 100. For our dog for the shock we found best works at about 80. We only honestly shocked him maybe 3 times in that hole process. Now all we use is the vibrating button if he doesn't listen. Usually though we don't even have to press it. As soon as he sees us pick up the remote he does what he is told. I would definitely recommend this product to any dog owner that is looking to train their dog and for behavioural issues.

I bought the collar for our 4 year old cattle dog mix. She is 15 lbs and fully grown. I use the collar on her during our weekend trips to Fort Funston (San Francisco, CA), a large off-leash recreation area by the beach in SF. The 400 yard range is more than reasonable for our use since our dog will typically not be anymore than 100 yards away. The vibrate "page" function has proved to be quite useful as a simple reminder before a correction is necessary. With our dog, I get effective, non-painful response to the continuous electrical stimulation between 15-18 on the intensity dial (I've never corrected her above 20 with it). Seeing as it goes to 100, I feel extremely confident that if her life was in danger (i.e. bolting after a cat/squirrel into the street), the collar intensity could be turned up enough to "drop" her immediately and save her life. Both the remote and collar look and feel like a high-quality, professional product and allow for easy and precise electrical intensity variation.I do notice people claiming the collar doesn't have enough power for their dog, or that they have turned it up to 100 on them. I'm sure their are multiple variables at play, but from my experience, if the collar is not fitted snuggly to the neck, you won't get good, predictable electrical conductivity. I had to turn the collar to 25 or so because I didn't see response, but then the electrodes likely made better contact when the collar moved and it whacked my dog a little too hard. This is not a tool to hurt your dog as a punishment, it's a tool to refocus them back on your command. 99% of the time the stim level should perceived as a "nuisance" by the dog and not a painful whack in the neck.I have never had an issue with battery life on the collar or remote, as we are only using the collar 2-4 hours at a time. Plugging it in when we get home leaves it fully charged in 20 minutes of so. Again, we are not using it on the upper limits of it's potential run time though. Some have complained about the collar material not being a nylon "click" type. I see this as personal preference and is a non-issue for me. Collar comes long and you trim to fit your dog. Easy. My only complaint is the size of the two electrodes. My dog doesn't mind them snugged to her neck anymore, but it seems like they may be somewhat bothersome for her size. We've ordered the smaller "comfort" electrode setup and I imagine they should work the same and be more comfortable for her. Size-wise, the collar receiver is small/light enough that our 15 lbs dog is not affected by it. A smaller, "purse", sized dog like a chihuahua may find it cumbersome.Overall, I highly recommend the collar and have already encouraged my parents to get one for their lab. It is an excellent tool to allow your dog more safe, off-leash time and is a great life-insurance policy for them to protect against their "dog-brains". Hope this helps your decision making!

I am really impressed by this product. Right out of the box I could tell it was well-made and would be far more durable than my last two models have been. After buying cheaper products that just stopped working after awhile, I have been so glad I purchased this Dogtra IQ product!Things I Love:~ How reliably the receiver communicates with the remote, even at a distance. The cheaper ones seem to fail regularly in this regard.~ The quality construction and the truly waterproof design. I try to take it off before my pup goes in the water just because I worry about it breaking, but sometimes it just doesn't work out that way, and even after some pretty lengthy swims it continues to work.~ The wide variation of settings for the static correction. You should only use the lowest setting that works to deter your dog. I find that 25-30 is more than sufficient for my 50 lb dog. He doesn't jump or yelp or even twitch his ears, but he does refocus his attention on me, which in my book is the perfect setting.~The receiver is smaller than many models, and on my dog, it is hard to even see once he has it on, which I like a lot. I don't need people with easy-going golden retrievers judging me for having this collar on my super smart, high energy border collie-aussie mix.~After using cheaper collars, all of which I tested out on myself to be sure I wasn't using a high setting I couldn't tolerate comfortably on my precious pup, I find that this collar's "shock" setting is incredibly smooth and consistent, and less uncomfortable than the cheaper ones. I don't know how to explain it properly, but I just feel much more comfortable using this model on my beloved dog. I don't ever want to hurt him; I just want to have the option of reminding him he needs to listen during those rare times he forgets his manners =)The Only 2 Cons I have Found:~ I wish the page (vibrate) mode was a bit stronger. I find it is very weak overall on this model. The cheaper collars I used had the option of dialing the vibration mode up from 1-100, and I did LOVE that. I prefer to use the shock as little as possible, and my dog responds well to vibration as long as he can feel it. I feel like with the cheaper collar I was able to use the vibrate option more and therefore the shock option much less, and that is my preference. He can still feel the vibration, but there is no way if he spotted a prarie dog that this weak vibration would deter him. That said, I am able to use a pretty low shock setting effectively on my dog, and I have tried it on myself and it feels like a tiny static electric tingle, so I know I am not truly hurting my dog when I do need to use it.~I wish this utilized a normal collar with a click type design rather than the rugged buckle. I take my dog out multiple times a day, and I don't like leaving it on him all the time. I wish it was easier to get on and off. This is a minor issue in my book, but still worth mentioning.Overall I think these collars are amazing, and this one in particular is worth the cost without a doubt. I know some people tend to frown upon these corrective collars, but I have personally found it to be the most useful tool in correcting dangerous behaviors such as deer and prarie dog chasing. Where I live we also have rattlesnakes, so I feel much better knowing that I can halt my dog's predatory chasing behavior if it is ever necessary. I can't rave enough about how much better my dog has become. I find I rarely have to use the collar anymore, but whenever we go out off-leash, it's always on just in case. I think its super important to continue using tons of positive reinforcement while using this collar, and always heartily praise your dog when he restrains himself from doing something you know he wants to do but shouldn't! My dog used to chase bikers, joggers, and even cars sometimes, and he has completely stopped with those behaviors. We can now go on even the most heavily used mountain biking and hiking trails and I don't have to worry about him taking off after a group of mountain bikers. I have more piece of mind, my dog has tons more freedom, and our relationship is certainly better. When used properly, this collar is truly a lifesaver!!!!!UPDATE: Have now had this for 2.5 years, and it still works like it's brand new. Though I used to use it almost everyday to help with his manners on our off-leash hikes, I rarely need it now because my pup is such a good boy. I'm actually using it now (just the vibrate feature) on my newly adopted 2nd dog to help sharpen up her recall, and it's working like a charm for her, too! I can't say enough good things about this remote trainer. The extra cost is absoltuely worth it for such a high quality product!

I bought this collar a couple of weeks ago for my 30 pound Wheaten Terrier after reading all of the great reviews on it. We got the dog last year when she was 6, and have had no luck trying to break her from the terrible habit of attacking anything with wheels (bikes, skateboards, strollers, etc). This collar worked wonders for her! We started by giving her the pulse option on the remote when she attacked something, followed by a quick shock right after. After doing that 3 times, we only needed to hit the pulse button, and she would stop attacking. Now, we don't even have to do that. As long as she's wearing the collar, she will just turn around and walk back to us, sit down and wait for the bikes, strollers or whatever to pass by. Hopefully, we won't even need to put the collar on her soon!
