I'm using these for a hobby robotics project. As far as the motors' function is concerned, they have oodles of torque running from a 6v pwm supply, but sometimes don't start well at the low end of the PWM duty cycle range. Also the electrical terminals are very thin - almost like a heavy foil. While they can be soldered, they aren't going to withstand much mechanical fatigue... Be sure to affix the motor to something and provide a strain relief to avoid transferring motion to the terminals. In the end, these are indeed usable, but take some care. They are an inexpensive educational part, but I think I'll opt for something more robust once the prototyping is further along.

These “TT motors” are super common in all sorts of beginner robot car projects, which is why I got them (to teach my kids about motors and robotics). The have a 1:48 gear ratio, and are very tough and tolerant of the mistakes a beginner might make. You can power them with anything between 3V to 6V, and I tested all of them at 3.6V and 100mA, and they all worked fine. I like that these come with the wheel for each one. Of course, they won’t all spin at exactly the same speed with the same voltage, so you will need to PWM control them using an H-bridge and a microcontroller. Let the learning begin! Getting 4 of these with the wheels for under $10 is a good deal for these very common parts, so 5 stars!
