This is the Heavy Duty Tripod DeWalt came out with for there first Laser Level that ran on 18v batteries. While they later came out with a 20v Laser Level it does not have the range of the first one and the Tripod is not nearly as heavy duty as this one. This is a rock solid Tripod and will handle what ever you mount to it.

Bought this as a warehouse deal.Very well made, sturdy and in my case a bargain. I would not have paid the current new price of almost 150cad for my occasional use and purpose.Note this is a surveying type tripod and does not have photography or microphone features. It ONLY has 5/8-11 mounting threads. NO 1/4-20 or 5/8-18.There is no leg angle locking mechanism but there is a central hook for hanging a weight for extra stability.I wanted this for my laser level and acting as a stand for my work lights and possibly my cordless fan. I was trying to create something similar to the RIDGID Hybrid GEN5X Universal Collapsible Tripod Lighting Stand as it’s not available in my HD area.My laser had both 5/8-11 and 1/4-20 mounting holes so that was ready to go.Only one of my other tools had the matching 5/8 thread. The rest 1/4-20. My solution was to make steel “arm” with a welded 5/8-11 nut so I could attach a combination of items by using neodymium magnets with 1/4-20 studs mounted to the light/fan. This allowed max flexibility with mounting and aiming.I bought these on Amazon “ MUTUACTOR 4PCS Super Powerful Neodymium Round Magnet with 1/4''-20 Male Threaded Stud” and “ PATIKIL 0.79" OD x 0.24" Thickness Tripod Mount Adapter Rubber Pad, 5 Pack 1/4" Screw Hole” to take up the extra thread on the magnets. I could have cut the studs shorter but decided not to incase I repurpose them.

I saw a review stating these were poorly made, but the one I got is well built and strong. Nice large flat surface on top. Legs are sturdy and stable, extensions lock firmly into place. Even a little bubble level to get things close to level quickly. Very satisfied..

This tripod to support a TV satellite dish - I actually have two (one for Dish Network and one for DirecTV) - a very rugged, stable, portable platform - I add a dog spiral tieout stake under the center with a ladder lock strap to provide an anchor - this combo provides a rock solid base for mounting and aiming a satellite antenna -Additional detailsPhoto 1 shows the dog tie out stake and LadderLock strap to stabilize the tripod - I used a 1 inch wide, 60 inch long LadderLock strap - it also shows chains for the tripod legs - they help constrain the legs while setting up the tripod -Leg chain details - I used an eye loop on each side of the immovable part of the leg - fastened about a 16 inch length of chain to one side - fastened two links to the other side and fastened the free end to the end of the 2nd link in the leg chain did this for all three sides - and then hooked the chains together in the center - this keeps the legs from going to far stray as you are setting up the tripod - the chains are independent of the dog tie out stake and the LadderLock stabilizing strap - I used Koch Industries A17721 No. 12 Single Jack Electro Galvanized Steel, 10-Feet, Zinc Plated -Photo 2 shows the underside of the mounting to the tripod table - the centering plate and the bars that support the mounting bolt can be seen - the phenolic four arm knob is used to tighten the antenna support - even with the knob tighten, the dish and mount can usually be rotated for adjustment -Photo 3 shows the bolt under the mast that goes through the tripod table and is tightened with the phenolic four arm knobPhoto 4 shows from the top of the table the hole in the center and the two bars under the table that the antenna mast is fastened tooCentering plate details - this is prolly the worst part of the project - it is basically a large washer - There is a 2-1/2 inch 'hole' in the top of the tripod base - underneath the base are two bars with clearance for a 1/2 inch bolt - in order to keep the bolt in the center, a plate is placed inside the hole on top of the bars - dimensions are about 1/8 thick X 2-3/8 outside diameter with a clearance hole in the center for a 1/2 inch bolt - I don't know of any place that such a piece can be purchased - I did some scrounging to find the ones I use -The mast has to have the correct diameter for the satellite mount - my DirecTV mast is 2 inch diameter, my Dish Network mast is about 1-5/8 - It was years ago but I have no record of buying a J-Pole Antenna Mount - I think the installers had the masts -
