This exterior metal dryer vent is much sturdier and a better design than than the white plastic ones with the grid that doesn't stay in place. This vent has a flap that opens with exaught air flow and has an mesh protective cover to prevent unwanted entry.

I got this to replace an older broken plastic one. This one being made of metal is much more substantial. What's really cool about this one is the back where the hose connects. When I first opened the box I was a bit disappointed by how short the piece that the hose connects to was. I imagined struggling with a hose clamp or spring inside the wall. But when I looked closer I realized that the way this vent was designed I didn't need to clamp the hose at it holds itself once you slip it over. I simply pulled the hose through the hole in the wall, attached it to this vent than screwed it in place. I thought about painting it but I have a grey house and kinda liked the stainless look so I left it alone.

DO NOT BUY THIS! Screen is not removable. Dryer lint accumulates behind screen and in dryer hose. There is a real danger of a fire!Inaccurate product description.
