Wouldn't fit any of my grinders, spent half a day making an adapter to get it to fit my 7" grinder and had to modify the vacuum port to match my shop vac hose.

I am a stone sculptor, so I’m used to the dustiness of grinding stone. But my goodness! grinding a concrete driveway is so incredibly dusty! …So I was very excited to try out this 7” dust shroud, along with a new 7” concrete-eating cup-wheel. — I linked the shroud to my shop vac and away I went. (In hind-sight I should have used my small cyclonic separator unit, since the copious dust of grinding concrete quickly saturates a shop-vac filter.)When I cranked it up, I was positively shocked by the complete absence of any dust escaping the shroud. What a satisfying thing to have that enormous cloud of dust contained within the shroud and siphoned off into the vacuum. —I am most definitely SOLD on this tool.This 7-inch shroud accommodates up to a 7-inch diameter grinding cup wheel. Equipped with various sized rings to supplement its adjustable clamp, the shroud hopes to fit most any size or model of grinder. It may take a little bit of fiddling to figure out the fit for your particular tool (after all, “universal” is a pretty broad category). The lower rim of the shroud is fringed with brush bristles, which keeps a close fit to the surface, while allowing for some irregularity in contour. —Of course the shroud works great on broad expanses of concrete, but it also has a neat gate that slides over to allow you to grind right up to a wall as well.I’ve never uses a shroud before, so I don’t really have any other experiences to compare to, …but I am very impressed with this one, and delighted to enjoy its significant conveniences.Cons: Likely due to its aim of “universal fit”, its fit on any particular grinder may be less than ideal. It took a lot of squeezing and snipping to wad enough of the spacer rings around my grinder’s hub so that the shroud would be securely clamped in place. —Woah to me if I need to mount this shroud onto a different grinder with a different sized hub!Suggestion to manufacturer: include at least twice as many spacer rings in the kit, so the user can mess up, or reconfigure the puzzle pieces. I would also wish for even fatter spacers for fitting onto grinders with smaller hubs. (When you have too many rings stacked up, it gets precarious.) Another suggestion is to use a plastic which will respond to PVC glue (I haven’t tried this set) —so that once all the pieces are assembled to satisfaction, the owner can then glue them all together into a ready-to-go puck (another reason to have extra rings, so one can assemble spacer ‘pucks” for various grinders).Practical note: I was never able to adjust the “quick release” clamp collar such that the shroud could slide on, and then clamp securely. So in the end, I just used a socket wrench to directly tighten the clamp bolt all the way until the shroud was secure.

Keeps all dust from flying around

I have the normal shrouds on all my angle grinders, and I even have one special shroud for my biggest grinder, but none of them perform like this one. I use my grinders all the time and dust is always an issue that nothing has yet solved - “tents” don’t work well, so I wind up just keeping the shop vac ready for when I’m done.My new shroud fits all of my angle grinders (with some help), and I use my homer bucket cyclone filter before my shop vac and that keeps the dust from collecting around the skimmer sock I have installed over my shop vac filter. I’ve used this on my pool deck mortar replacement project with my very aggressive concrete grinding disks and it just makes everything much easier to clean up. It doesn’t mean I don’t have to wear a mask, but I will say there a whole lot less dust on the outside of it after the day is done.I am a huge fan of this accessory - I love it about as much as I love my angle grinders - my favorite power tools.

This is a nice shroud that fits all of my angle grinders (all from different manufacturers). The clamp works well and the shroud does allow you to collect dust easily. I use it with a mainstream brand's adapters to connect to my shop vacs.
