The concept of this tool collection is great: Put together a set of the most common automotive wrenches and sockets in a compact, transportable case. The implementation is pretty good too, but far from perfect. Basically, the set consists of a good range of ratchets/sockets, a modest set of end-wrenches, a assortment of 1/4" hex-head screwdriver bits and handle, and a whole bunch of allen wrenches, packed in a blow-molded case with one fixed and three slideout trays. The case is the best and worst part. It's extremely tough on the exterior. You could probably drop it from a moving vehicle and barely scuff it and nothing would fall out. But unfortunately. it's so secure I have to use two hands to pry open the latches that retain the pullout drawers. The molded trays are also spotty when it comes to retaining the sockets and other contents in their molded beds. My set arrived with nearly all the components scambled in their trays from shipping, but as long as you keep the set upright, that shouldn't be an issue.Overall, I like the set. It would make a fine gift for someone just beginnig a tool collection. It would also make a good second set of tools to keep in your pickup. But I wish it included a couple of adjustable wrenches for which the Crescent name is synonymous.

This would be a decent set to give someone who is a first time homeowner or new to DIY auto repair.I picked it up for my teenager to use so he would (hopefully) stop borrowing from my toolbox. My complaints with this set have to do with the selection of tools and what is NOT included vs some of the items seemingly included just to increase the total number of tools.FYI: The 1/4" sockets are all 6-point, the 3/8" shallow sockets are 12-point, the 3/8" deep sockets are 6-point, and the 1/2" sockets are 12-point.Pros:- Good quality tools for a new homeowner or someone just starting to get into DIY auto repair. If you are looking for a gift for someone who is into tools they will already have everything included here.- A decent storage case for someone without a dedicated toolboxCons:- The largest wrenches included are 15mm and 5/8". Most wrench sets include up to 19mm and 3/4". (Including wrenches up to 22mm and 1" to match the sockets would have made this a much more useful set).- 55 screwdriver bits, 2 sets of standard hex keys AND 2 sets of metric hex keys included to boost the "tool" count to 229. 3 flat screwdriver bits would have been plenty (S, M, & L), but this set includes 11! Hex/Allen keys already have short and a long side so including both a short and long set in standard and metric is unnecessary.- 1/2" drive sockets are shallow depth only. No 1/2" deep sockets included.- The case doesn't hold the sockets in place well enough. If you are using this as a mobile toolkit be prepared to sort and reorganize the sockets from time to time - especially the 3/8" drawer. That drawer hates me.
