Daughter bought for home, her review:house has some mold issues but moreso multiple smokers and neighbors with trash/recycling that makes me sick every trash day. I have Environmental Illnesses (MCS, allergic reactions, etc). This purifier has a powerful fan and is good size, heavy. I used it in a med size room and in a living room/dining that connects entire floor. Also had Winix 5200, Trusens Z2000. Coway is best for VOCs and cooking smells didn't ruin the purifier like it did the Winix. On auto the sensor on the Coway is very sensitive to smoke and kicks into turbo to clean the air. Unfortunately I had cheap hybrid mattress that contained something that got into my room and I've had a hell of a time getting it out and the coalway did help but it got into the machine and every time I turn it on it simply just spreads it around my room again so unfortunately the co-way and the mattress had to be returned (I've heard this is a common complaint with allergy suffers because of the VOCs and even possibly mold retained within latex and memory foam that is used in even regular spring mattresses nowadays. )However I will be buying another one this winter in order to deal with incense smoke or herbal concoctions being burned in my apartment by my roommates. I have to say that the Winx 5200 dealt with mold a little better. This unit does take a lot of wattage compared to units with the new DC motors from Europe, such as Trusens about 80 watts I believe but that's probably on turbo you can call the company and get the wattage of each speed I suppose. This place has wiring that hasn't been updated so we use DC motor units in the summer when the air conditioners are plugged in and Coway or Winx in the winter months when the windows are closed and you need strong purifiers because there's hardly any ventilation. We've also used an older model purifier from Alen which is a monster however that got ruined by the VOCs from the mattress. I still feel as if the Coway 1512 HHS is better for smoke and VOCs compared to even the old Alen model. The filters are easy to find. This model has a washable carbon filter with a honeycomb screen containing actual pellets of carbon. We did find some dust on the inside HEPA filter because it comes through the pre-filter and through what space there is between the carbon pellets of the honeycomb shapes containing them in the carbon filter. If dust is your major concern you could probably use the 1512HH which has the older sheet type carbon filter but because of the issue with VOCs and smells I'm not risking anything and I'm going to keep using this model. I have a very hard time with mites both dust mites and whatever else is around in the Northeast and running a purifier like this constantly makes it so I don't have to vacuum all the time and my allergy is severe I actually feel the creepy crawlies which is only a small percentage of people that have a dust mite allergy. We have cats which I'm not allergic to thankfully and it constantly picks up hair off the floor from them cuz we are always cleaning the pre-filter daily.I've used a trick with the carbon filter which is to wash it off with water let it dry and then very gently on low use a hair dryer to dry it not only does this finish drying it completely but it probably heats up the carbon which in theory would help renew it.This model does feature Wi-Fi access to an app where you can control the machine from your phone but we couldn't get it connected and we didn't try again because it wasn't really a feature we were interested in.This purifier is one of the more highly recommended purifiers from all of the experts on YouTube I didn't say influencers I said experts. Science guys with actual degrees and/or experience in HVAC or purification experts that do so for a living and have YouTube channels.

If I could marry an air purifier this would be it!!! All joking aside this device works amazing. I got it recommended from the NY Times Wirecutter section as one of the top six you can buy. They tested all the top makes and this one beat ‘em all…hands down in terms of power and speed it can exchange air in a space. I have to say it’s been a huge help to our air quality and allergy issues. Sensor is super accurate and very sensitive to changes in the air in order to effectively run the auto feature. In terms of care, cleaning and up keep are a snap. It also has a cool retro exterior design that looks stylish in the room. This device is a total winner and worth every dollar. It’s priced at a premium but delivers on value. Highly recommend!!!

I'm glad I made the investment on this, specifically the HHS model with the Smart Technology. My last purifier wasn't effective in cleaning the air. I would see an accumulation of dust around the filter, but the purifier always left a weird smell in the room and it caused me to have a consistent dry cough. I don't experience this issue with the Coway Airmega. This purifier is super easy to take apart and clean, and I like the fact that I can control it using the mobile app. Sometimes I forget to turn off the light on the purifier, and the app allows me to easily do this while I'm in bed. I also like the fact that the app shows me the percentage of life for each filter and when I should be cleaning and/or replacing them. As someone who would rather not think about it, this feature is a must. I do tend to let the purifier run at all times, and it's almost always on the highest setting. However, this does wear out your filters more quickly so it's something to be mindful of. I may switch to the ECO setting during the day and the highest setting during the night to preserve the life of the filters.I noticed some people touched on the loudness of the purifier when it's on the highest setting. While it's true that it is quite loud, I don't find it bothersome personally - and this is coming from a sensitive sleeper. I actually prefer having that sound in the background while I'm sleeping because it's effective at blocking any outside noise which has resulted in deeper sleeps. I used to get woken up early mornings (and sometimes in the middle of the night) because there's 9 of us in our household and there's almost always someone talking or reeking havoc lol. But ever since I've owned this purifier, it's been doing an excellent job of keeping a consistent sound in my room. All in all, this has been a great purchase and I have no complaints so far. Setup was not complicating whatsoever. It's easy to maintain. The air smells cleaner which keeps my sinuses under control. It helps me to sleep better. And it's well-constructed.

The Coway Airmega 1512HHS is quiet and works well at filtering air. It is only loud if you put the fan on full blast (level 3). Most of the time, I keep it set to auto or eco modes, which seems to keep the fan quiet at level 1 or 2. It's lightweight and easy to move from room to room.Setup was easy with the exception of connecting the device to WiFi. Because it only connects via a 2.4Ghz connection and not 5Ghz it failed to connect for several attempts. Eventually I was able to connect it to WiFi by setting up a "guest network" with my router (I use Google WiFi), which broadcasts at 2.4Ghz. After I did this, it connected seamlessly but it took me a while to troubleshoot the connection failures and search online to find a solution.Once connected, the app has good device management features for turning the device on/off, changing the fan speed, putting it in auto or eco mode, or on a timer or schedule. Also, the app and device itself monitor the filters and tell you when you need to change them and clean them. The reason I gave this product 4 stars rather than 5 is that the Coway ioCare app does not provide much in the way of air quality monitoring. For example, I want to know the pm2.5 levels in my room (i.e. dust). Presumably the device is monitoring that somehow with its sensors but the app only provides that information for outdoor air quality. I have an Awair air monitoring device that tells me pm2.5 levels, CO2, Chemicals, Humidity, and air temperature. I expected the Coway Airmega to provide this information, but it doesn't provide any information. The only information in the app about air quality is a generic graph that either says the air is healthy or not, but it doesn't indicate why or what the levels are.
