I needed to split my TV sound output between a soundbar and receiver. This allowed me to use the optical output from the TV into the converter and then use both optical and coax output to my sound bar and receiver simultaneously.

I give 3 star because of the word "repeater" in the advertising. I can be seen as a "kind" of repeater if the input uses a different medium than the output (ex: fiber to coax or reverse). BUT you cannot use is as a repeater for coax to coax - this will not boost the signal from the coax input to extend using the coax output. In fact, this configuration will add a signal lost. I now use it as a converter and it work well. So all in all to create a coax repeater one must use two box like that connected together with a fiber. This box could be truly called repeater only if it could repeat from the same medium (in out).Convertion from coax to fiber works very well.

I recently upgraded our soundbar, but I figured we could repurpose it to our bedroom for Bluetooth and to use with the TV. We have an older RCA TV that does not have HDMI ARC or eARC (just standard HDMI) but it works perfectly fine and there's no need to upgrade it. The only audio out options on the TV are either a headphone jack or a coaxial audio out. Since I still want to use the TV speakers, the headphone jack isn't the best option. However, the soundbar doesn't have coaxial in (but does have optical in).So I bought this. Everything you need is included: a coaxial cable, an optical cable, the adapter, a USB cord, and a wall wart for the USB. All I needed to do was plug everything in, enable the switch to the right setting, and then ensure my TV's digital audio output was switched on. Everything works well and sounds great on the soundbar! And I get to extend my usage of both the soundbar and the older TV. Overall, I definitely recommend this product.

Product arrived fast and worked OK right out of the box. I use it as a hub to connect two computers and two sound systems with a combination of SPDIF coaxial and TOSLINK interfaces. Totally plug and play - no software, no drivers, no problems. A slide switch that selects the TOSLINK or SPDIF coaxial input is the only control.
