I typically wear a 1x on Lands End (and 20 in Lane Bryant pants, 1x-2x in tops) but purchased the XX Large which is a 2X on the jacket. It's snug at the bottom of the jacket but does zip up. No heavy sweaters underneath. But it's light weight. Will update review after my trip. I do like the look of the jacket though I wish the name wasn't so visible.

I normally wear a 2x/20, but after reading reviews went up a size so that I could layer this over a fleece jacket. I'm glad I did, but have to say it is very large in the middle, while fitting the hips well. Some people mentioned that the arm holes seem small. I have to say that they do seem small in proportion to the body, but even with my big arms, they fit fine. I wish it was a couple of inches longer to completely cover my rear, but overall it is a great quality jacket. I especially like the hood with the drawstring. It has a bit of a slight brim in the front, so it doesn't come down over your face like so many do. The color was true to the photo. Ready to head off to Scotland. Will update after blowing sideways torrential rain test!
