This portable Coleman backpack sun shelter is easy to assemble and very spacious. I haven't used this on a beach yet, but I am very much looking forward to using it on the beach. This thing is pretty big, but not obnoxiously large. It can easily fit two full-size reclining beach chairs in it, with plenty of room for a cooler or other supplies. The walls can provide as much or little shade as you want. Portability is a big plus, as the bag turns into a "backpack", with two shoulder straps, however it's definitely not the most comfortable thing (but the convenience is nice). I really, really, disliked having to put this thing back in the bag though. It probably takes me twice as long to put it away as it does to assemble it.

The Coleman Backpack Sun Shelter is a portable 7x7 tent that offers plenty of room. It does not come with a floor, so if you want something on the bottom, you’ll need to account for that. I appreciate its easy setup and lightweight design, making it perfect for outings to the beach, camping trips, or even just lounging in the backyard. Unfortunately, I can't set it up right now because my backyard is covered in snow.This tent provides UPF 50+ sun protection, which is fantastic because during the summer, I want to relax outside, but the sun can be quite intense. It would be a great addition for those sunny days, though I’ll have to wait until the snow melts.The tent features adjustable side and back walls, allowing for airflow. It's simple to set up, thanks to pre-connected poles, and it includes four sandbags and stakes to ensure stability and prevent it from blowing away. The carry bag is designed like a backpack for easy transport, and at only 10.5 lbs, it's lightweight. There’s a mesh pocket on the side for holding a water bottle. When set up there are four inside pockets to store small items, which is convenient.This shelter would also serve well at a flea market, providing shade from the sun and a bit of privacy. You can choose between PFAS and PFAS-free options; I opted for the PFAS-free one. One of the great features is that the instructions are attached to the tent, so you won’t lose them. Overall, this is a very easy tent to set up quickly and use. Coleman has once again delivered a quality product. I highly recommend it!

The Coleman name is synonymous with quality camping products. This Coleman Backpack sun shelter is no exception, but it is light-duty. This product comes in two versions: PFAS-Free, and with PFAS. PFAS stands for per and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances. It's used in this case as a water-proofing applied to the nylon. Or not, depending on which version you choose. Because PFAS is harmful to people and the environment at the parts per billion level, if you don't need your sun shade to be water-proof, it's probably best to choose the PFAS-free option.Assembly is pretty straight-forward. Instructions in color are included on the outside of the carrying bag, and there are more detailed sheets sewn into the bag itself. First unroll the tent fabric from the bag containing the connected rods. Open the bag with the rods, untie the two sets, and pop them into place. Because the rods are connected with shock cord, it's really easy and fast to set up, and once each section is together, you just have to join them in the middle.Next is the hardest part to figure out. Here's the necessary hint: Place the tent over the rods with the blue panels on the sides. Insert the four horizontal pole ends into the plastic cups on the top of the tent fabric, then pull the corners down to the bottom of the spiked tent poles. Insert the spikes in the perforated cups, then hook the two plastic hooks into the loops next to the cups. Then, it's 'buttoning' time. There are about six plastic tabs that connect the vertical edges of the tent through little cloth loops.That's it! You're done, unless you want to anchor the tent to the ground using the included tent stakes (not good for white sandy beaches) or included sand bags.At the price of $85 for the PFAS version, this is a solid deal. The $119.99 PFAS-free version is inexplicably overpriced. Recommended!Recommended!

It is full on winter here so, I set this up in my house. I had to have help but younger, able bodied people might not need any. It is a bit stiff putting things together but, hopefully, that will change in time. I planned to use this when I am working outside and have to get out of the sun to rest and it provides plenty of shade without having to go all the way back to the house.Getting the thing back in its carrier is quite a challenge because it turns into all knees and elbows and the fabric doesn't fold as easily once it has tasted freedom. I wound up stuffing it in there as well as I could and using straps to keep it together. That works fine for me because it will be stored in a closet and not be transported anywhere.

I got the Coleman Backpack Sun Shelter for my daughter to stash in her Jeep for those spontaneous beach trips, and it’s been a hit. The shelter is lightweight and comes with a backpack-style carry bag, making it super easy to transport. Setting it up is straightforward, thanks to the pre-connected poles that make assembly a breeze. Once it’s up, the 7x7 ft. canopy provides plenty of shade, offering a comfortable spot to relax on sunny beach days. My daughter loves how convenient it is to have this shelter ready to go whenever the beach calls.
