I was looking for a device to have in case of emergency and this radio is it. It has the feel and look of good quality. The reception is very good and I'm real happy with this product.

Yeah, works ok. Nothing fancy, gets the job done though. I plan on upgrading to something more "traditional" like you'd see in a "semi". Buttons take a little getting used to. Reception is "ok", transmission about the same. 3 road trips with it so far, already wishing I'd purchased something else. Quality product, just not for me

Suggest getting the external antenna. I see reviews claiming 1/4 mile range. I drove from Indy to Springfield MO and only heard 2 transmissions the entire trip.

I haven’t had much of a chance to use this yet, so I’ll tell you what I can. It’s loaded with 9 double AA rechargeables, and with batteries inside it has a great weight and balance to it. Fits great in your hand. I like the display on it, my old HH had only a 2 digit LED display for channel, this thing is just light years ahead, the display gives you so much information. One of my favorite features is the ability to recharge the batteries without taking them out to put in a charger. So much nicer that way. Classier too.And finally, kudos to Cobra 🐍 on that instruction manual, oh so nice…where to start? The type is big, so you won’t need to grab your magnifying glass when trying to read it, you also get a detailed set of instructions here, it’s a thick booklet, and…. It’s ALL in ENGLISH!!!! That’s right, let it sink in now. One owners manual and 1 language, how refreshing, been so long since I’ve seen anything like this. Most companies seem to have gotten so tight fisted with the moola that they make you go online to get your owners manual and if there is one, they make you go running for your magnifying glass to read it. Then you get one or two pages of vague instructions.

A friend and I bought these to communicate with each other off-roading in our Jeeps. When I first picked up the box I thought there'd been some kind of mistake because it was way too light. I expected to open it and find the wrong item in the box. It was this, the CB in a plastic blister pack like you'd see hanging from a peg at the end of a store isle. That should have been my first clue. The 9 AA batteries you have to put in it weigh more than the radio, and it's seemed to me over the years that light electronics are bad electronics. We tried testing communications, and after verifying via text that we were on the same channel and weren't squelched to death, we had nothing, no communication from houses roughly 200 feet apart. We walked outside to get away from the admittedly harsh wifi interference, and we could finally start to hear each other when we were effectively line-of-site. Maybe 50' apart. Out on the road it was just as bad. Literally the radios didn't work unless we were practically right next to each other. The Jeeps could be within sight of each other on open highway, but by the time we were more than 100' feet apart there was no communication. Zero. Off-roading they were no use. No warnings from the lead Jeep, no requests for stop from the trailing one, we could never talk to each other unless we were close enough to just shout. Don't buy this CB, I've had little $20 UHF "walkie talkies" that worked lightyears better. Very disappointed.
