Used this bit today to make some sticks for a stick chair. White oak. Seems to be good quality. Hopefully can be sharpened fairly easily. This is not a cheap bit. There was some burning, could be that my cordless drill is dying. I did need to file down my spade bits to make the fit tighter. Overall I’d say if you’re making stick chairs. give it a try.

Just like other China tools it looks like it was hand hewn with a axe. The blades were chipped and rough. All this said it worked far better than any the other pug maker I tried from Amazon. Wadda joke. The blades should not be chipped but chewed up the wood just fine…. But for how long. I think I can file them to true them up. It does drill a really large hole in the material but works. It is a beefy tool. I graded down for the chipped blades. Be aware that other fractional cutters from China are really metric sizes. This tool does cut a snug plug that will work for my purpose. Let’s see how many plugs I get out of it

I have several different sizes of these CMT cutters and they all work great. I use them for making pins when I do draw bored construction for slab tables

I use this "plug" cutter to make 3-inch-long dowels. It works. You can take scraps of wood, clamp them vertically on your drill press table, and cut multiple dowels, thereby matching your base wood, or having your dowels lighter/darker than your base wood. I shopped around for price and availability. I believe this cutter paid for itself within two weeks, and I'm just a hobbyist.
