This book has been wonderful to work through with my students in our school Chess club. Problems for each tactic get progressively harder. Good explanations. Well done.

While the writing is clear, I do not see how this is supposed to be written for "kids". The cover and the term "kids" suggest pre-teens but for that group this is decidedly not the right book. The age is not specified on the book and now that I check the info on the page is says, on the one hand, grade 3 and on the other a "reading level" of 13-17 years. I would suggest the reading level is as much the problem as the lack of tailoring for younger kids. Please incorporate the intended audience into the description, where you could be clearer.

As is usually the case with books by John Nunn, this is excellent. Hundreds of themed tactical tests. What I particularly like is that they are "real-life" and illustrate many of the common tactical ideas found in modern opening systems (e.g. Nd5 tactics in the Sicilian) whilst fitting within the standard thematic classifications ("fork", "pin", etc.). Highly recommended for players of all ages and all standards. Also highly recommended for those involved in teaching chess.

I bought this book for my son to learn Chess properly. It is well worth the money. The exercises are very well thought out and scale in complexity - I can honestly say that for a beginner the improvement has been noticeable. Will definitely look to buy some of the other books.

I'd say this is a really good book and an excellent learning tool for post-beginners through novices. I just wish the diagrams were bigger and the solutions were even clearer and more accessible.
