Other reviews have said most of what I wanted to.I wanted to add an inexpensive light with some motion to my dj setup. I don't use haze so beam moving head lights wouldn't have much impact in my setup, so I found Chauvet's Kinra line of derby lights and decided to give them a go.I tried the mini Kinta first. It uses a color wheel for color selection, so there is no color mixing. It made it look out of place when my other lights were a solid (non-primary) color. I then discovered the Kinta HP which said it uses separate leds, so I hoped it would mix the RGB leds and create colors that match my other lights. As you can see from the images, that isn't the case. There are two clusters of four leds each (RGBW and CMY+Orange). In the RGBW cluster there is a bit of overlap, so you get a bit of your mixed color, but for the most part you're getting independent primary colors. So it's a bit better than the mini Kinta's color wheel, but not great if you want a uniform color setup. It is still by far the best option I've found for a relatively inexpensive moving light that adds a lot of movement options from a single fixture, so I'm definitely keeping them (I got two).Other pros:It's surprisingly bright: in the first photo it's on the wall across a gym, with the "house lights" turned on around the perimeter of the room, and you can still see it clearly.

If you're looking for a "Kinta" effect, this light will deliver with some unique features. However, it also has some shortcomings that make it somewhat unusable. The "Kinta" effect itself is great. It was a wide coverage area and it is decently bright for an effect of this type. Instead of having separate red, green, and blue LED's that come from different areas in the light (and thus, won't "mix" but instead give distinct red, green, and blue patterns) the light has an RGBW diode as well as a CMYO (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Orange) diode. With DMX you can control the levels of all 8 colors in 255 steps. When you control the levels of the red, green, blue and white, they come from the same LED die, so they (almost) mix - however, the lens effect of the light does split these colors into slightly spaced beams so it's not really true color mixing. The same goes fro the cyan, magenta, yellow, and orange LED die. However, these two sets of colors are on two different (spaced apart) LED die so they create distinct beam patterns.Because of the non-standard color setup of this light, many DMX control programs may not (yet) handle it well. For example, Sound Switch, although it lists this light, will only color mix the red, green, and blue colors, and doesn't even control the white. You can use the cyan, magenta, and yellow via cues only. I don't believe that there was even a channel exposed for the "orange" color via cues. As of this review writing, Sound Switch does have a separate "Kinta HP Color Mixing Mode" fixture, but I couldn't get it to do anything. I suspect eventually this light will get better support from software, but initially the road might be rocky and you might get better unique color results by using the built in programs. The DMX motor control for this light is good. Values 0-127 allow you to position the motor directly to a given position, values 128 through 195 control the speed (from fast to slow) in one direction, and valuesd 196 through 255 control the speed (from slow to fast) in the opposite direction. This gives you major control over the Kinta effect, if you want to take the time to program it.Physically, I don't care for the design of this light. The bottom of the light has screws that protrude from the bottom, as well as the fan vents. This means you really can't sit the light on a surface. (I wanted to attach it to the top of my speakers or sit it on a corner shelf of my DJ booth). The hanging yolk attaches to the top of the speaker, not to the sides, so if you take it off, there are still mounting brackets for the yolk sticking up, This means, you can't turn the light upside down to mount it to the top of the speaker either. I'd rather see a light with a completely removable yolk/bracket as well as a flat bottom, and have the exhaust vents on the sides or back. This light will work fine to hang it from a light bar or truss but if you're looking to use some other inventive mounting option, this light will be less flexible.PROS* Unique colors with the CMYO LED die* "Near" color mixing with the RGBW and CMYO LED die* Good beam coverage and brightness* Precise motor control options via DMX if you want to program itCONS* Can't completely remove the mounting yolk/bracket* Fan vent on the bottom so you can't mount it on a speaker or shelf* Fan is a bit loud* Unique DMX color channels might it less compatible with current software* Only "Kinta" effect, no SMD strobes or other effects like the Kinta FX* Not too pricey for what you get
