I was only able to use it a few times before it got stolen from me at a coffee shop... but those few times it made transfers WAY faster than my cheap USB 3.0 stick I was using before. Will definitely buy myself another one of these. The flexibility of having both USB A & C was really nice.

I had need of a micro SD card reader. One I had laying around must have been old enough that it was not working well with todays high volume cards. I saw this model, it looked like good quality, and decided to take a swing.Pros:- very solid (aluminum) build quality- Can read full and CF sized SD cards- Has both USB-A and USB-C connectorsCons:- size. Its pretty large. Most computers have USB ports near each other. This size might block the use of a 2nd port- price. No escaping it, its not cheap- does not have micro SD card slot, need to use and adaptor- no slot/hole for a lanyardProduct Aesthetics and Features:Its a nice metallic blue color.Product Quality and Durability:I am unable to comment, with personal experience, on long term quality and durability. My initial views on product quality and durability considering the materials and construction are:Its not a cheap, super light plastic build like so many thumb drives. Its a solid, substantial build.Using a scale of Poor, Average, and Excellent for product Quality and Durability.Personal Rating: ExcellentProduct Value:This review is not explicitly about the cost, rather the personal value at this price point. At this time of this review this product was priced at $29.99Value for me is a combination of features, build quality, and cost. For me I cannot stop thinking that is twice as expensive as I would have expected.Using a scale of Poor (overpriced), Average (appropriately priced), Excellent (great value for price).Personal Rating: PoorProduce Origin:Made in ChinaPrimary reason for the star rating:The value. I liked the features, and solid build quality. At this price it is just hard to justifyConclusion:Considering everything mentioned aboveWould I recommend this: NoWould I buy this again: NoDisclosure:This is my own personal Amazon Vine review. It is an honest and true account of my own views, opinions, reactions, expectations relating to this product. I did not purchase this product, however I was provided this product for the expressed purpose of providing a review.

I occasionally need to read SD cards on an older computer that has USB-A but no memory card slots. This adapter was the prefect solution. As a bonus it also works with recent tablets with USB-C connectors. I found it transferred to/from SD cards just fine. I didn't measure the speed or try CFexpress cards. There's a nice LED on the side of this adapter to show when it's active.Be aware this adapter is about 1 1/8" (30mm) wide. Normally this isn't a problem, but it also means it's difficult to use on a Macbook where other connectors are close by. I also found the caps covering the USB connectors were very inconvenient. The end caps can't be swapped, and they're designed so they can't even be flipped over. There's also no markings on the caps regarding which connector is underneath, so you must remove them and often get surprised you picked the wrong end!Bottom line, this is a handy adapter that works well. Just ignore those endcaps!

I shot A9R3 with SONY 960GB and OWC 480GB Type A cards. I also have an OEM Sony card reader, which costed me an arm and leg. I needed a backup in case the sony one failed me. So I picked this up and decided to give it a try. This cost of this is 1/5 of the OEM one that I bought, remember this as a reference. The real reader is pretty bukly - wide, thick, and long, and with both USB-A and USB-C adapter built in. So no need to carry an extra cable, but the both caps are removable and easier to get lost at some point (That's just me maybe). The OEM one has a cable connected so the reader itself is smaller (wider but shorter and thinner).I tested it on my M1 iMac's thundebolt port. It gave me 766MB/S write, and 734 MB/s read. Comparatively, the OEM one gave me 688 MB/S and 594 MB/s respectively. I am very IMPRESSED with this result, and suprised too.But as it is wider and has a built-in adapter, it blocks my neigbhoring port which is a minus compared with the OEM one with a thinner cable.Considering the cost I paid, I am pretty imopressed with its performance.

I really like that this reader has a USB-C plug that allows me to plug it in directly to my iPhone and Lightroom recognizes it immediately. I upload several hundred photos to my phone at a time and despite the large file sizes from 40-60mp cameras, this thing keeps chugging along without a hitch! The body is metal, too, so it just feels extremely durable. Love it!
