When I started using this cable, it introduced a hum. When the cables are touched over the plastic (turntable to phono preamp), the hum increases, indicating that the shielding is not sufficient and picks up interferences. Once changed to a better quality cable, no hum.

I don't know about the waterproof claim but in terms of connecting audio gear, these cables are just fine. They are very flexible. The build quality seems good and they connect snugly but not too tight. I previously purchased a different length of the same brand and wouldn't hesitate to buy more if needed. These cables have been dependable and are reasonably priced.

Bought 2 pair for the 2 channel rig. 1 pair failed within a month. QC probably shoud be stepped up a bit.DJ
