The dongle is a bit long at 3" so it sticks out of the dash a bit, but boy does it work well. Doesn't come with a manual so you need to scan the QR code on the back if you want instructions on the pairing process; but it's so simple that you really don't need them. It's essentially plug-and-play so you plug it into the USB port on your vehicle and search the bluetooth ping on your phone. After it's paired, it'll automatically connect to the phone each time you turn on the car. No need to connect it each time, which is a massive plus. The only thing is that it takes a good minute to minute-and-a-half to pair each time, which isn't that bad considering the performance is very reliable.Speaking of, I've only been using it with my onboard Android Auto on my Toyota so I haven't tested it with Carplay, but it works flawlessly. Lag time is minimal too, although I have had the very rare connection drop on longer journeys. Feels like it works more reliably on journeys under 2 hours, and with a fully charged phone. And that's another thing. Normally when you plug in your phone, it's charging at the same time; but with this thing it's only pulling power. So even though I got one for my father, he's still having to plug his older phone in to charge which kind of defeats the purpose of having a wireless connection. I suppose that's his prerogative. But for me, I think this little gadget works exceptionally well. Don't even have to take my phone out of my pocket in order to have access to nav data and music. Kinda wish the dongle was a bit smaller, but at least you get good range on the thing. I can walk around the car to do an inspection or clean snow off in the winter and it'll stay connected. Very decent speed, reliable connectivity (mostly) and certainly convenient. Nothing not to like. A thumbs up.

My car has a wired Android Auto only. This little adapter gives me the flexibility to change my connection to wireless. It does a great job but with some annoyances.Installation: You plug the adapter into your car USB data port (Type A or C). You then go to your phone and look for the adapter Bluetooth name (VehiConnxxx). You pair it with that. Once paired, the adapter will create a wifi hotspot and the phone will connect to that. Then it will automatically launch android auto on the car screen. This was all done within a couple of minutes with no glitches.Performance: I drove for an hour with the adapter installed. I had zero problems. My navigation and music apps worked just fine. I tried different voice assistant commands with no issues. No lag. Everything works just like it was wired.Phone Battery: Since the adapter is now using my usb port, and I don't have a wireless charger in my car, my phone is not being charged. I was worried that my battery will run out using wireless Android Auto through the adapter. For my 1 hour drive trip, I only lost 6 percent on my battery. This was with navigation and music on. Not bad. If you are going on very long trips, you might need to charge your phone once in a while.Firmware Upgrade: This was a very frustrating experience and I never got it to work. While connected to adapter, you're supposed to go to the adapter IP address through the browser to reach the interface and upgrade from there. This was not possible as you get a connection time out. The only way to do this is to disconnect from the adapter wifi and reconnect manually as per instructions, but that didn't work either. The adapter kind of hijacks your wifi and you can't connect to anything else. So I had to disconnect the adapter, delete the Bluetooth and wifi connections in my phone, then insert the adapter into my laptop and not pair it to Bluetooth but manually connect to the adapter wifi. Then, I was able to reach the adapter IP website. But then, the upgrade section was in Chinese. When you find the new firmware and hit upgrade, you're prompted to disconnect wifi and connect to mobile data to download the firmware. I tried this multiple times, but it always half way through the download. I gave up after a few attempts.Design: the adapter has an LED light that turns green when connected. With my setup, the green light ends up being at the bottom side of the adapter and I cannot see it. This might be different for each car depending on the location and orientation of the usb port.Overall, the performance of the adapter is great, but it's not for everyone, especially if you don't have a wireless charger in that car to keep your phone charged.

I debated what to rate this. Couple things to know. Unlike the more well-known brand, this is entirely China based, designed, built, and maintained. If, like me, you have work-related security concerns, this is something to be mindful of. The Carlinkit app is atrocious compared to the other brands and apparently is used for many kinds of devices, not just AA. I mean, it is as varied as OBD2 readers, as well. At first, I got excited thinking this had some kind of secret OBD2 function before I realized it's a just that the app is meant for a wide variety of other devices. The problem is that the app is mostly geared towards those other scenarios.Other than that, unlike the AAWireless and Motorola (and some others), this is an all in one stick, as opposed to a dongle with a detachable or built-in cord. I personally like the detachable/corded kind because it allows for some flexibility and forgiveness if it bumped accidentally, which could lead to it breaking. The reason I didn't dock it too much for that, is because it has its use cases. For me, this means if I'm traveling and renting a car, I might use this as a quick low-profile device that gets me AA function without having to pair the phone to a new rental car each time. The downside, which I am still troubleshooting is that after trying this out, my car is having massive issues connecting to me original AAWireless2 device. I'm hoping I can figure that out soon. If not, and if it looks lke this did something, I will update the review.
