I got the Cable Matters 101101-BLK to get 4k @ 144Hz on my Samsung S90D 42" TV. The GPU is an nVidia A2000-12GB. I had a Lenovo mDP to HDMI adapter and it didn't work at 144Hz. The HDMI cable was certified HDMI Ultra.Using the Cable Matters Mini DisplayPort to 8K HDMI adapter, I could set my Windows 11 PC signal to 144Hz. Please note that you must set the TV's Game Mode Settings to ON or Auto for the PC to offer 144Hz! Once I did that, I could get things set up as I planned. Thanks Cable matters!

I was skeptical at first but tried it nonetheless. Luckily, it works so I'm definitely glad I've bought it! Especially since these specific kind of adapters are quite hard to find.

5 stars, because as the title says, it works as advertised. Now, I do want to elaborate on my experience (stumbling upon something and doing research after the fact). I wanted this for attaching my gaming laptop to my 4K (120hz) TV. The HDMI port on my GPU only supports 2.0 (while my TV does support the 2.1 needed for 4K 120hz), but, I also have a mini DP 1.4 port, which has bandwidth that should support 4K 120hz. However, that bandwidth is only necessary for 4K, 120hz, and full 4:4:4 color (or RGB, which is equivalent in data rate all else equal). I found this out after using just the HDMI cable and finding I could still select 4K and 120hz in my GPU's control panel, and then proceeded to research. If you want to just use an HDMI 2.0 port (/cable), you can lower the color to 4:2:0 and then still be able to select 4K and 120hz. Based on recommendations I read, and a little of my own testing, your naked eye really shouldn't be able to notice much difference between 4:4:4 and 4:2:0 in video games. (Full 4:4:4 /RGB is more necessary when doing things like video/photo work, or just general computer usage where you'll be reading a lot of text). So, if your primary concern is gaming at higher resolution** and higher refresh rate (on a PC with a pre-HDMI 2.1 GPU), you probably don't need this. Get it if you desire to have any of the following (for whatever reason): 4K 120hz, full 4:4:4 color or 4K HDR (100hz or less) with full 4:4:4 (HDMI 2.0 can hit 4K 60hz HDR at 4:2:2, for what it's worth).**And honestly, if you were going to be running a game at 1080p, because of your GPU (and TVs just happen to be mostly 4K now, so you work with what you have), and your TV has good upscaling (namely: Sony), just set the desktop resolution to 1080p and let the TV upscale to 4K (and then you could do 120hz, 4:4:4 and HDR with just HDMI 2.0).
