Despite some other reviewer complaints, these Boyistar Fishing Hook Quick Removal Descending Device fish hook removers do exactly what they were designed to do if used properly. They are used for releasing smaller bait fish from the hook without the need of touching them with your hands and therefore preserving their slime layer. Bait fish will survive much longer with their slime coat unharmed. You can open the loop on the end with long nose pliers for larger hooks even. This 4 pack of hook removers come in individual clear tubes with sealed reusable ends. There is even a small magnet on the tip of the handle for picking up hooks. They are very reasonably priced for a pack of 4.

nice set of fish hook extractors that can go in every boat and tackle box so you never do without. This is however quite small and seems especially designed for panfish where the larger extractors and pliers are too big for the fish and you risk killing them before you can let them go. I mostly fish bass so with their much bigger mouth I prefer a different style. But I will keep one of these with my pan fishing gear, for those days I want to use the ultralight.
