Works great and fun to use. You have to press the pencil in slightly, then twist back and forth. The ratchet is so cool. It makes the pencil led very sharp. I did 15 pencils (mostly Crayola colored) and only had 1 lead break in the sharpener. Easy to clean and to remove the broken lead. Bostitch is a great brand. Only drawback, my sister with arthritis, said that her wrist started hurting after a while. She did a bunch of pencils too.

Despite arthritis in my hands, I've revived my enjoyable hobby of drawing, coloring, and painting. I shared it with quite young nieces & nephews and we decorated cut wooden ornaments with colored pencils. These sharpeners were a blessing. They were easy for their young hands, and my stiff, old ones. No messes got made because the shavings were captured within the sharpener domes. The package came with three of them so we all were able to keep up with the need for sharp points. I also liked that they accomodated 2 sizes of pencil in each one.They're inexpensive, so I gave the kids their sharpeners to take home. I'd buy these again!

I’m disappointed. The concept is good, however, the sharpener doesn’t sharpen the way it should in order to be more helpful at school.
