These lamps were being used for a reptile cage. They provide sufficent heat and night color . I would rate their lifespan as average. The price is acceptable.

First lightbulb lasted three weeks. I didn't think it gave off too much heat to begin with, but needed something. Then it stopped working all together. Put in the second bulb, didn't work at all! Ridiculous. Waste of money AND time, totally defective. Returning. *And yes, I tested my lamp. Daylight bulbs still work perfectly.*
