These 1.5v bulbs operate with a single battery, ideal for classroom experiments. These are classic incandescent bulbs. In the past few years many science kits have substituted LED bulbs, which pose significant problems for basic circuit experiments.Incandescent bulbs light regardless of polarity, so if a circuit is properly completed, the bulb will light. Most simple LED bulbs need to be configured with the proper polarity to work, so an additional concept needs to be introduced to circuit experiments.(Basic LED bulbs are diodes, and current only flows one way.) Experiments will also have an additional failure point due to this.So if your goal is to explain the concept of a circuit, stick to these incandescent bulbs. And they're value priced for a package of 50. No big deal if a few of them arrive non-functional.Note: They are not very bright, so don't plan to use them for flashlight applications. You can also expect them to burn out more quickly than LEDs in permanent indicator light applications.

I like these small bulbs for projects, these are 1.5 volt so they work great with standard flashlight batteries.
