This is a nice post-surgery collar! My only real problem is how loud the velcro is to adjust. If your dog is skittish about loud noises at all you might struggle to get this adjusted on them without freaking them out. That being said, the way the velcro is attached & how wide it is does make this a very adjustable cone, so you should be able to get it adjusted to a size that fits your dog comfortably. This is the first cone like this I've gotten that comes not only with the loops to attach your own dogs collar to it, but it comes with it's own little collar in case you don't have one! To make the cone more secure on your pet.The inside is lined with soft mesh to about half way up, so your dog isn't in direct contact with the plastic. The plastic feels pretty thin & pliable, which would make it more comfortable for your pet to wear but does make it less durable & if your dog is a chewer & is able to get to the cone they could chew it up pretty easily.

Where I was having my dog Spayed picked this one out of the 4, I had bought. It was good protection until my dog decided to chew the brim. Otherwise it held up good.

I bought a few different cones and leg sleeves to try for our 60 lb golden doodle after his TPLO surgery. The hard plastic cone from vet was awful and he clearly wasn’t comfortable. We found the sleeves were a PITA to deal with and also he could lick them until they were wet which was not good. This cone was easily best solution of the lot - you can get the sizing just right and the Velcro is very strong. The mesh padding on the lower part is actually really soft and also perforated so lets air through it. It is flexible enough so that dog seems really comfy in it when laying down but also just rigid enough so he cannot access his incision. I ordered xl and xxl to try… xl was much smaller than I thought so went with xxl.

Good alternative to vet provided cone. Inner area with fabric is more comfortable for long term wearing. Like any cone, dog will need to adjust. The fabric, and clear portion makes it a little easier for them to adjust.

My labrador recently had to have a couple stitches in his chin and was sent home with a typical satellite sized cone from the veterinarians office. Although for the most part he was tolerating it well, the size was just difficult to deal with. He is crate trained and loves his crates and even though they are both extra large with plenty of room, the sound of his cone against the bars during the night while he tried to find a comfortable sleeping position was extreme and he had to work quite a while to get settled in to sleep well. I decided to take a chance in order this cone it didn’t look quite so long as the one the vet sent him home in. He is a 76 pound labrador and I ordered the largest size. It does not go out quite as far as the one from the vets office which is fine as there is still enough cone that would block him from licking anything he was not supposed to be licking but I would recommend measuring and following the sizing instructions.Since he is still quite young and everything is fun and exciting I thought that putting this on him would be a challenge but it was much easier than I thought. Note that the loops for the collar do stretch but they probably would not work with a wide collar. The one he was wearing was 1 inch and it was doable but I don’t think a one and a half inch or larger width of collar would work for the loops. I could be wrong but just be aware that if your dog wears a very wide collar the loops probably will not stretch over it. I did have to work just a bit to line up the Velcro only because my dog was twisting around and wanting to see what I was doing as I was sizing it but I did get it lined up nicely and I think it is a much more comfortable fit for him. Do check that you have enough space between their collar and cone and their neck it should fit comfortably like their collar. The only issue that I see as a possibility for us is that when my dog becomes restless and wants to play he has tried to grab the seam where the material that goes around their head is attached. I don’t know if he can hold onto it enough to cause a problem but that will be something that I will look out for in the next few days. As for the other parts of this cone it is much more flexible than the standard cone and still holds it shape nicely. The edges of the cone do you have a material around them so it makes it much softer. My dog has a tendency to bump into the back of my legs when we are walking and this is much easier to deal with. The cone has flex and the edges are softer. It appears to be an inch or two shorter than the standard that issued cone but I think it would prevent licking or disturbing a wound or injury. He is able to sleep easily it appears as the material is more flexible than the regular hard plastic cone. It does have air holes throughout. The softer material that goes around their head does block their view but it doesn’t seem to be an issue. He does have the clear area around the sides a bit. We will see how this does during meal time but all in all it looks like a much better cone than than the one we were given at the vet. Of course it’s still early because we’ve just received it today so I will update this if needed but at this point I do think it will be a nice change and will help the next several days be more comfortable for him.UPDATE my dog spent two weeks total in this cone and the second picture in my review will show how thrashed it became but again he is a young active labrador and would often rub the edges on cement and on his crate. When he would get really rambunctious he would press some of the cone against something and it would slightly buckle and I would have to push it back into shape. He also chewed the edging off of the section that was near his face and there were lots of loose threads by the end of the two weeks but it did hold up and was more comfortable for him. The vet even commented today when we went to get his stitches out that it looked like a good cone I showed it to her and she really liked the way it fastened with the Velcro Although it is so beat up it would not be able to withstand another used but all in all I am satisfied with it because my dog was much more comfortable and he was easier to deal with in this cone than the one from the vet.
