The radios are okay for the price but you can't hear anything through the ear pieces if there is any ambient noise.

These radios work great especially at their price point. I use them at work and many times that means being in very large buildings with multiple floors and these radios work great when communicating with co-workers for equipment testing purposes. A few weeks ago, I took them when our group went ice fishing. Some stayed in the cabin, some when out on the ice and some hung out at the bar. The cabin was about a mile and a half away from the bar and the lake is in between those. I was able to communicate with the cabin from inside of the bar. It was great to have the peace of mind knowing that we had a way to keep in touch with everyone on the ice in case an incident were to happen. I'm ordering another set of these to keep as spares.I also have a set of the UV5r 5 watt and a set of the 8 watt radios. I use the 8 Watt radios for Ham and I use the 5 watt radios for GMRS and license free FRS frequencies as well as UHF. For a Chinese product, these radios really are top of the line at their price point.

We got the radios for our neighborhood Community emergency response team “CERT”. We needed something that would be easily used by people who would have no experience with radios. The radios were simple enough that anyone could use them. They were simple enough to program using the free software. We used our FCC licensed radio frequencies. The radios were set to operate out of the box and functioning but the default should not be used until they are reprogrammed to a legal frequency. All in all A nice inexpensive radios.
