Bought this in Aug 23 after the Demon Slayer craze hit our household. Got this one for my 15 yr old daughter (never too old for tamagotchis!) as her favourite character is Obanai but you don't actually get this character. After turning it on, you get a non descript 'Kinoe' ranked demon slayer character. After about 24+ hours of looking after him (we googled the instructions in English) he suddenly morphed into Muichiro which my daughter was suprised at, but also really pleased as he's a favourite too. Then in Nov 23 the batteries died...and therefore so did Muichiro. Both kids were in tears! I bought new LR44 cell batteries and replaced. The Kinoe figure appeared again but the sound was weird as if it had had water in it (it hadn't). After 24 hours+ it morphed again...this time into Shinobu Kocho. The kids weren't too impressed, and asked if we could try and 'kill her off' to see who else we'd get!! Stupid me took the batteries out whilst she was sleeping!!! Now the thing won't turn back on!! Is this because she was sleeping and now we can't actually see her on the screen? Or maybe it's just a toy that isn't made to last. I don't know but I'm now been given the guilty mum treatment. Sigh.. Well it was fun whilst it lasted. I do recommend them though, despite being nearly £20. The kids had over two months of looking after it and fighting demons and feeding it rice cakes and green tea. (Which therefore inspired them to make/eat the same at home ...plus also start an obsession with Yo Suishi). I would note though, that ours never died even when a demon came onto the screen. I have my suspicions that they never do, although one review said theirs did die. But twice, during the day when I was put in charge of it, I forgot all about it from 8am to 1.30pm. When I remembered, I saw there was a demon on the screen, fought it, fed Muichuro and he was totally fine. So after that I was never that bothered when a demon had appeared on the screen for a while and we hadn't noticed. Personally I think ours was immortal!! (Until the batteries died of course...!!). Buy one and enjoy it! I've worked out from what we paid for it and the days we played with it, it worked out at 21p a day. Maybe if you don't get the character you really want, take the batteries out (not when in sleep mode!) and see if you get another. But be prepared for it to only last about two and a half months before you need more batteries.
