The antenna seems to be of pretty decent quality. I didn't seem to get any better performance than using my Rak antenna and the cable it comes with is pretty bad given it's length. This is a nice all-in-one kit to get you up and running, but you would probably be better off sourcing a more name brand antenna and getting some LMR-400 cable, especially given the price of this kit.

The antenna is solid and I get a great range from it. The cable it ships with is trash. It loses almost 3 dB in the cable alone. I had it on my VNA and at 900 MHz, RG-58 style is too much loss over a foot or two. The 16ft cable is just too long. LMR400 would be better. The lightning arrester seems to be good. I haven’t had a strike to test the gas’s discharge tube. Loss is around 0.4 dB, which is about what I expect. For those keeping score at home, a 5.8 dB antenna with about 3 dB loss in the cable and 0.4 dB in the lightning arrester is really as 2.4 dB setup, about what I have with a stock antenna. I know other factors play in this, but I don’t see as much utility. I have upgraded the coax and now have about 0.8 dB loss in the cable and lightning arrester. Much better setup.Look around and just get the parts you want. This setup is okay for a novice, but it has a lot of limitations.

I have this 5.8dBi antenna on my chimney so I needed to use a longer cable. I have a 50 ft lmr400. I just so happened to start mining on a week that the Helium network was having problems. But the following week I started earning rewards almost daily. The antenna does work for US915. I do not like that the phillips screws are on the opposite side of the bracket. It still works out fine. Overall I think I am a little to late to the helium race but I enjoy it. I think this set is a good place to start if you need all the parts included. Always can upgrade cables later if needed.
