I got it for storing my flour in... I figure for roughly $32 it was a great deal. It does indeed hold a LOT of flour. Im not sure how well it will keep bugs out as the lid has a kinda cardboard (?) insert rather than silicon..- I do freeze my flour before placing it in the jar. I simply love how it looks and how easy it is to scoop out the flour. The opening is plenty wide to reach your hand in with ease. The handle is tricky to get on but it makes moving the jar so easy. Im am hoping to buy several more for my sugar and such. I love it and highly recommend.

First off, you will need pliers to get that ring on. A set of needlenose pliers will work best. I have 2 of these filled with rice and pasta. These are what you need after a Costco or Sam's Club run and you buy a 5 Lb sack of rice, beans or whartever. The handle is hard to get on but once on, you can left a good 20 lbs of goods in the jar without the handle falling off. The glass was clear, no blimishes or bubbles. I will buy more of these as I need them.

You can brew with this as a fermenter. Do not drill into the cap and make your own airlock. I did and regret it. Where I drilled began to rust a bit. Now I worry about rust in my brew. And the lid doesn't seal tight, so the lose seal lets the fermented gases out. I have successfully made two batched of wine and cider with this, and the airlock didn't even bubble once, because it the gases kept leaking out of the screw cap. If I could do it again, I would just use the cap as my airlock (and throw out the paper inner seal thing, I wish it was plastic as it might actually hold a seal and be re-usable). Why brew with this then? The wide mouth is excellent if you want to ferment with whole fruits and/or brew bags, etc. Now I need a new lid, dang, because that may not be easy.Caution. No airlock isn't ideal because if your brew expands into the cap, it may seal and then blow up. So leave some head space between the top of the liquid and the cap....and keep a daily eye on it! Also, without an airlock, it's quite difficult to tell when fermentation is done. I recommend reading up on a typical fermentation duration for what you are brewing, add a few more days, and rack it to a proper fermenter; and of course, throw away whatever fruit, etc. you had in this jar, you won't need/want it after about 1-2 weeks anyways.A woman below in the comments has made an excellent how-to guide to get the handle on. It's actually very easy, but not at all intuitive. See her comments below.

I was looking for the big jar and handle with a maritime feel to it. This jar is everything and more! It is large, sturdy, and is exactly what I envisioned. I look forward to filling it with more sea glass! Note: for the handle, save yourself some frustration and just grab that pair of pliers as soon as you open the box LOL!

Era el tamaño que necesitaba, pero la agarradera venía despostillada y también llego golpeado de abajo, eso me parece que fue culpa de FedEx, que lástima porque me gustó mucho
