I cut this to size and heat sealed the edges which worked fine. I put them on my 3/4” dock lines and there was visible wear on the cover after a couple of days and after a week, the cover was already torn and rope visible through the tear. These did not last a week. Contacted company and they told me i could not get credit since they were already cut. They don't stand behind their product. I will be contacting amazon.

Please understand how to use chafe guard and what not to use. Use this for four 1" three strand mooring line for a 9 ton sailboat.1st either use a hot knife to cut this material or immediately close melt the edge after you cut it or you'll end up with unraveling.2nd If you want to use firehouse for an antichafe on your 20' trailer able outboard boat on Sundays than that is a better and uglier choice. If using any kind of anti chafe covering that has a non permeable liner that does not allow the line to cool during extreme loading or constant abrasion then the line fibers melt, not the drippy kind but separate and strength is reduced.This product works as I have been thru two 60 knot wind storms, used on the anchor snubbed to hold 100' of chain and 45lb anchor with 16000 lbs of Mr Toads wild ride hanging on and honestly was surprised that I had no chafe damage to the line but there was evidence of wood Compression on the teak bowsprit where the snubbed worked over it when the bow went thru easily 10 feet of vertical motion.This product has a good value.

I keep the boat in the water year round and the constant motion of the lake causes the lines to rub through at the cleat or rub rail. This material worked perfect to slip over the line. I cut to length with scissors and used a heat gun to cure the cut ends. Slipped them over the Lin e and used a cable tie to hold them in position. My lines have not shown any wear at the rub points.

Those so-called fire hose type chafe guard falls apart if you cut it. Not sure yet how well it performs but do not cut it to size.

I cut this into a few sections to prevent chaffing.
