I didn't know my original equipment cassette still on my bike and covered in black oil had HG-50 engraved on the lock-ring, but I cleaned it off I see that now. I believe this HG-31 may work perfectly fine on my bike, and the difference between this and my HG-50 may be just cosmetic (my HG-50 is sort of a gold color vs. the black HG-31), but I may go with the HG-50 anyway, as I see it is still available on Amazon. That way, my drivetrain, which has been working perfectly up 'til recently, remains as it was from the factory.OH - I have seen some comments on Amazon for other Shimano cassettes about a "missing rivet" on the back of the cassette, with the assumption that means the cassette is "defective". I have looked at two Shimano cassettes (HG-31, HG-51) and a few pictures off various websites and every Shimano cassette I see has only two rivets on the back with what looks like a hole for the alleged mysterious third "missing rivet". But a few comments on the net seem to say the two rivets you DO see on the backs of the cassettes are just for aligning the cogs during cassette assembly and no third rivet is needed. Do your own research if the "missing rivet" theory is a concern.

J’ai acheté ce modèle en ligne après une mauvaise expérience de remplacement chez un réparateur vélo avec une durée de vie très limitée, alors que le réparateur avait insisté pour remplacer également la chaîne pour éviter les problèmes liés à la différence d’usure. Pas de problème à signaler avec ce modèle qui fonctionne très bien depuis des lustres, sans remplacement de la chaîne. La seule contrainte est d’avoir le bon outil pour procéder au remplacement.
