Wow, I am super impressed with these. Well worth the money but I am getting ahead of myself! Comes in a plain but quite nice shoebox that is made of thick cardboard. It's good to know the shoes can be stored in there and will arrive safely so while it might seem an insignificant thing, it matters. The shoe quality in terms of materials feels very high. The bottom has a rubberised grippy style but very flexible as well. The shoe is light and padded and extremely comfortable to wear. You almost don't feel like you have them on your feet. There are two things that are outstanding to me.1) They are wide::I have wide feet which makes buying footwear problematic for me. I often have an impossible choice of either accepting my toes will feel scrunched but the shoe fits well or having a shoe that is a bit too large but my toes have a nice comfortable amount of room. I normally size up and just deal with it. Not so with these trainers! They are nice and wide and so I can wear my actual size and be comfortable as well. If you have wide feet this is for you!2) The feel of themThese are so light and so breathable. My feet feel so happy and comfortable. I've never experienced anything like it. This almost feels like wearing a sock. Some might not like this aspect of the trainers but I really like having such a tactile connection with the ground and being able to feel it. I really like how they feel. They are a bit more than I would normally spend but given how comfortable they are, the quality of the materials, they are breathable and light I would actually buy them at this price point. I would highly recommend them.

My son has inherited my very wide feet and it seems to me that it is becoming increasingly difficult to find shoes that fit comfortably, almost as if shoes are being made narrower than in the past or perhaps my feet are just getting wider! It was with great joy then that I came across these purposefully made extra wide training shoes. My son has worn these running on several occasions now and reports that they are super comfortable and more than meet the needs of his casual jogging regime. The padding around the ankle is generous and the shoe in general feels robust and well made.It should be noted that these a zero drop shoes which means your foot is falling onto a flat surface with minimal impact cushioning. With adequate ankle strength and range of motion this should not be a problem but if you have flat feet or high arches then you may want to consider swapping the included flat insole with something more supportive. They are marketed as “Cross training" shoes and this probably explains the more general design; they will work for running but equally in gym. They are expensive but then they are a brand with reputation and these are very well made and should last. Also, it is worth paying the extra money for shoes which have width to match your feet. The consequences of squashing your toes in to inadequately sized shoes for years on end can cause a number of issues; I have some of these issues and wished I'd realised at a younger age.

I have recently tried the Altra Escalante's and these Solstices seem fairly similar to those in that it also has a wide toe design, leaving more room than traditional running shoes that may be tighter up front.Sizing is a good fitThe material is similar in that it's thin and flexible, but also breathable, which is what you would need for sports/outdoor activities. There is also low cushioning on these shoes, but provides a good level of support and still feels comfortable to walk/run in.Costs £105 at the time of this review - cheaper than the Escalante's and has a similar quality to it.

I love the shoes, they fit great and look good and are very comfortable. I wore these shoes 1 day after I got them and did a HIIT workout, lower body with sled pushes, box jumps and a lot of squats. The sole of the right shoe had started to separate from the shoe about halfway (25 min) into the workout. I contacted Altra customer service only to be told we are sorry they didn’t workout and I could return them ( as if that was new information). I contacted them before I wrote this review and I let them know I wanted to talk to them before I write the review. Other than that I love the shoe as I know many people at my gym that have them and love them with no issues. I received these shoes 30 Mar 2025 and worked out in them 31 March 2025.
