The clay disc arrived packaged well and was as described. If you view photo#3 I had some material almost like gum stuck all over the side of my vehicle. Whatever the item was it did not come off during several cleanings.First I cleaned the vehicle and began work with the clay disc. I first made sure the disc was clean by running water over it. I then began to work from the front to the back of the truck, using a quality clay spray lube, along with two buckets of water to dunk the clay disc into, to clean during the process.I would only use this disc by hand and would not recommend using DA . The great part of using this disc over regular clay bars is you get a very good feel for when all contaminants are removed. Frequently clean the clay disc to prevent any paint damage. This clay disc did an exceptional job of removing every bit of the gum like material along with some water spots I had.Another bonus is using this clay disc compared to a regular clay bar cut my work time in half and the disc still looked new after use. During the whole process I was surprised how the gum material would just rinse right off the clay disc with a dunk into the bucket, I followed up with a second bucket just to be safe. The clay disc has a nice soft foam backer that allows you to get into tight creases, much better than I would have expected. If you detail your own vehicles and use clay, I would most certainly say this clay disc is worth trying out. I am sold on the product and will be purchasing one. I think the listing price is a good value, it would be nice if they offered their own lube for this as well. Perhaps they do and I just did not see it. Anyway a really great product in my opinion and the performance was spot on.

The weather finally is warm enough to wash the cars and use the clay pad. It is a good size pad, 6", that covers a lot of surfaces. It took very little time to go over the car with the clay pad. The hand strap doesn't do anything for me. It is just as easy to hold it as opposed to trying to fit my hand in the strap. I find it easy to use. But because it is big and easy to use, I find myself applying it over the plastic lens of the lights. It's probably okay but I suspect I shouldn't. I am usually very careful when I clay my car with the traditional clay bar - going around the lens trying to miss it. If you want to quickly clay your car, this 6" pad may just be the right one. But be careful with the lens. Hope this helps.

I have used regular clay bars for years to keep the finish of my cars in good shape. No small amount of work but worth it. However, I got this synthetic clay pad not for use on the finish but rather for the specific purpose of cleaning car windows as using a clay bar on glass can sometimes smear of you hit a dry spot. It finally got warm enough here in SW Ohio for me to try it out and I must say the results are excellent. There are those that say you can deep clean car windows with extra fine (#0000) steel wool. Personally, I don’t have the cojones to go that route so I had to find an alternative. This West Horse clay pad did the trick. The purple synthetic clay surface is labeled as fine grade and I have no reason to doubt this. The hand strap backing (velcro pad holder) is perfect when working on glass as you can keep the whole pad in even contact with the surface. As with all clay products, you MUST use lubricant to make the process work and prevent doing harm to the surface you are trying to restore. For the windows, I used a small bucket with a heavy mixture of regular car soap (Chemical Guys Honeydew – same thing I use to wash) for lube.Used my wife’s 2020 Cadillac XT5 (50k miles +/-) as the test subject. Have never done anything special to the windows except wash them. Cleaned the windows as normal, soaked the West Horse clay pad thoroughly, and got to work (in the shade). Applied a generous amount of soap solution to the exterior of the window and used gentle pressure in straight passes (no circles) back and forth and up and down. Dipped the pad in the soap solution regularly to remove any contaminants picked up from the glass and reapplied soap solution to the window as needed. I could feel the difference as the pad worked its magic. At first there was some resistance as I moved the pad across the glass but after only a minute or so the clay pad was gliding across the surface. Did the whole car – windshield, back window, and sides. Applied Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Coating to the exterior of the windows after the clay pad treatment and the results are spectacular. The windows are super clear and the windshield and back window wipers glide over the surface with no squeaks or chatter. They also do a much better job clearing water. I could not be more pleased with the results. Not the cheapest item of its kind on Amazon but it does what it is supposed to do and appears to be made of quality materials. Given that my use will likely be limited to vehicle windows a couple of times per year on two-three vehicles I expect it will last a long time making it a good value. Does what it claims to do but not a special or exceptional item. For me and my application, worthy of a four star rating.DISCLAIMER: I am a member of the Amazon Vine program. This means that I receive some products free of charge to use and review. I only request/accept items I will actually use. My reviews are based on this real-world usage – they are not mere regurgitations of the Amazon product description or insincere hype. I am not a shill and I do not consider the fact that an item was provided without charge as part of my ratings. I have given Vine products one star, five stars, and all points in between. My hope it they will help someone make an informed, educated choice whether or not a product is right for them.

Synthetic clay media is all I use for claying my car anymore unless it's heavily contaminated, which then I might use some traditional clay media. As you drive around, microscopic particles of iron from vehicles brakes, contaminates in the air, and general industrial fall out. Lightly drag a debit/credit card over the paint in question. If you hear nothing, you're keeping up on your car well. But if you hear a bunch of crackling & noises then you should clay. My video attached shows how and the differences you should expect to see/hear after claying. After every panel, I'd rinse it off and continue & if you drop it on the floor just rinse it off. No need to throw out like traditional clay. I also like the grip. It's perfect for my hand and the 4" diameter size is pretty good at getting in tighter places. Good addition to your detailing arsenal.
