Used it a few times as the YouTube ‘experts’ seem to think it essential. Couldn’t tell the difference in the state of the coffee whether I used it or not to be honest.

Works pretty well if you are just starting WDT. It's feels good quality. it's fairly heavy. Easy to use and store. A decent option if you are just starting out with espresso.

This WDT tool is great. It features a nice heavy aluminum handle and sharp springy needles. It is comfortable to hold and does an admirable job of fluffing grounds in the basket. There's not a whole lot to say about it other than I'd definitely recommend the one I have - my 18 y/o son has said that this WDT tool is the best out of multiple new espresso gadgets I've picked up over the past few months, and he's a meticulous espresso snob...I'm obviously reviewing a different product than many of the other reviews I'm seeing here - this one doesn't hang on a magnetic circle, it sits in a heavy aluminum base. Also, this one came with several replacement needles, though I haven't had to replace s single needle so far.

I am glad to have this when I get a bag of beans that is very oily, I.E. when the grounds tend to stick together a little more in clumps out of the grinder on my espresso machine. I use this in those cases to distribute the coffee in the portafilter. My wife likes it and uses it as well. We both feel this is a 'nice to have' accessory, meaning that it can be helpful at times, but it's not the most valuable tool in the chain of events to a great cup of espresso. If we were to talk about it in terms of diminishing returns, this is probably one of the last tools you may want to buy for your espresso setup, but it can be helpful to have on hand.
